Tennessee Vols Basketball Recruiting

Doesn’t really change anything. He “played the 4” this year in our 4 guard lineup.
Nkahmoua was the best post last year, if he can give 30 minutes, JJJ 20 at the 4, that means you’ve got 30 minutes for Aidoo & Plav, replacing the 30 minutes of Fulk & BHH, do I think Aidoo & Plav can match the production of those 2? Absolutely.

The 2022-23 was going to take a step back regardless because Kennedy Chandler is leaving and they weren't replacing him with anyone of the same caliber.

This doesn't mean the team will be terrible or that given the right seeding/draw that they could advance farther than this year's team.

Whether it's Spyre, coaches' recruiting, transfer portal, or whatever, my hope is that steps are taken so that the 2023-24 team doesn't take a significant step back.

Aidoo can guard the 5. We still aren’t going to be any better offensively at that position. And it’s like people already forgot what a good player like Dickinson did with Uros trying to guard him.
I didn’t say we would be better, I laid it out, but I’ll do it even a little more in depth…

Fulky gave 21.8m 7.5p 4.7r
Nkahmoua gave 21.5m 8.6p 5.6r
BHH gave 12.5m 3.9p 2.9r
Plav 14.1m 4.2p 4.0r
Aidoo 7.8m 2.1p 2.2r

If we are to presume JJJ played 20/30 minutes at the 4 last half of last year, and will do the same and doesn’t progress at all we will just assume same contributions from him, although I think most would agree a slight uptick seems very plausible. That leave 60/80 post minutes available…Nkahmoua & Plav produce better numbers than Fulk & BHH, so at worst that’s a wash, then you have Aidoo who I think everyone would expect more from than what he gave last year.

So assuming injury free, that Nkahmoua & Plav are both at the very least the same as last year, and that Aidoo takes even a baby step forward, you have a better post situation. Now one can argue the potential of BHH would have elevated this group and that is fair, but to simply compare it to what last years group gave you there’s not really an argument to be made.

You can’t roll into a season with 3 post guys. Foul trouble was an issue when we had 4.
Majority of the year we didn’t have Aidoo or Nkahmoua, and early on we weren’t playing JJJ at the 4. There’s 80 minutes at the 4/5 and you have JJJ/Nkahmoua/Aidoo/Plav, even with foul trouble you still can split it up…and doesn’t change the fact of those we do have bring more productive than those we had.

You can chalk it up anyway you like it but losing Fulky and continuing to rely heavily on Plavsic isn’t an upgrade when we were planning on getting Nkamhoua back and hoping the 2 freshmen would take big steps forward to reduce his minutes.

Right, if you want to talk about expected then sure, if you want to refer to how it compares to last year then no.
