Yes, he helped win us a NC championship. I was a huge fan. Thanks for the memories

But noow let's fast forward to today...no longer a huge fan. Thanks for screwing us in front of the whole nation jackass.

Guy is either a moron or played us for a raise.

First thing he don't fly all the way here, under these circumstances, with your family, only to turn down the job.

Second don't say you gave your word to Kiffin (the man who screwed us) and that you didn't want to break your promise to "those" kids when anyone following you knows you walked out on Kentucky and broke your word there.

You had three options.

1) Politely decline and say you are happy there and never travel here in the first place

2) Take the job here and help us right this ship and get things going again.

3) Travel here, make up a lie as an excuse to stay there, and let the whole world know Kiffin got us again and even our guy who won the NC doesn't want to be here.

You chose option 3 and for that I say thanks for the memories Benedict Arnold.

Grab you some testosterone big guy it comes in a gel now days it looks like it's gonna be a long off season for you !

Then say this "I thank UT so much for the opportunity but with the recent move from Kentucky to here that my family is just now getting adjusted to I do not want to uproot my family again so soon. I thank the University of TN so much for thinking of me and wish them the best of luck. Go Vols!"

Not the BS line he kicked out.

And yes, the above statement I just wrote would have gotten him out of hot water. We would have understood.

I guarantee that if he had said that exactly word for word you would still be bitc*ing, moaning, and calling it BS when you don't have the slightest idea.

When are you going to learn that our administration here, mainly Cheek and Hart are the architects of destruction for UT athletics. Go read Basilio's blog today and see what happened. Basicly Hart's sorry tail didn't send a car and people to meet Tee and his family at the airport, made him go rent a car to come to campus, did'nt meet him outside the building he was interviewing him in, made him have to seek the building out and where to find it by himself. Is this any way to professionaly treat one of the best recruiters in the country and a former NC winning player? Hell no. Thank you Mr. Hart for screwing up another coach search and running off another great coach. And Fred White is correct in him being low balled on top of this sorry treatment that he recieved from Hart. I wouldn't say yes either after being dumped on like this. Grow up dude!

Tee did not know the exact offer he'd get ahead of time. Tee also wanted to be here very much as he has obvious ties and affection for the program. Tee knew a ballpark of what he would be offered and what he actually was offered when the dust settled was lower than that, so instead of coming out and saying UT, his alma mater low balled him, he took the high road and stayed in his current situation.

BTW his current situation is coaching two all american WR who BOTH return next year. One of those just won best WR in the country this year. He also has been an integral part in putting together this recruiting class for USC. His wife likes their lifestyle out there and we had to offer him significantly more than the 300k a year he's making at USC and we didn't do that. So shut your damn mouth especially not having a damn clue what you're talking about.

Tee Martin is an ABSOLUTE VFL and whoever says otherwise can find their way to the ignore list IMO. Yes I'm sad we didn't get him of course, but it wasn't b/c Tee doesn't love this program or b/c he didn't want to be here. Period.

Do you think CBJ low balled him on purpose cause he had someone else in mind? He's Comes out squeaky clean because the popular thing to do was offer Tee and technically he did...

or maybe option 4..come here and get offered a crappy contract that sucks and turn it down but instead of saying that ut is too cheap to pay him he decides to say he is happy at usc and says something to keep his current boss happy since he has to work with him. i swear its always someone elses fault around here..first people blame fulmer after he got fired then people bash kiffin after another school gives the man his dream job and now people are bashing tee without even knowing what ut offered him. what if it was a pay cut? would any of you take a pay cut for the same job?
Or maybe option #5......take the entire family on a free trip in order to watch your son play basketball, then find out that the wife doesn't want you anywhere near the mother of that child, who lives in the city where you want to go to work. There may be some ancillary issues that we aren't privy to. Who knows?

neocon is, sigh, in drama mode again. Tee was offered. Came to investigate the "complete" package. Said no thanks. No foul no harm. No sense in slamming the guy by calling him a traitor. Neo - take a breath, walk outdoors, enjoy the cool air. Foozbah dude.

These people so many of you get on here to criticize (coaches leaving, recruits going elsewhere, players declaring for the draft etc.) are just men making professional and financial decisions. They're not fans. It's 2012. Loyalty is a rare thing. Enjoy them while you can and get over yourself. No one owes you a damn thing. GBO! of course... VFL

Tell me where I am wrong.

Does your "source" tell you something different?

Is it the same source the other mod had or the OG's had or half of volnation had?

Please tell me again what you know that proves my 3 scenerios wrong.

You won't be able to of course. Yes, I know your link in the AD said blah blah blah.

Neo,
What if tee was truly interested. However he is currently making $300k....and say butch tells him that we can only pay him $250k here. Wouldn't u fly back to LA and say no thanks?

$250k in Knoxville is actually more money than $300k in Cali after taxes. Sad state of affairs in CA, but I know this is not the political forum. Hey Jax, maybe we should hire Dale Jones!!!

He flew out here to convince his wife to make the move.

No one met him at the airport. It was raining buckets (for the first time in weeks). When he landed, he got a call from Lame Kitten offering a big raise if he stayed at USC. When he finally found the new athletic offices (things have changed since 1998), he was offered far less than Lame Kitten had offered. From what I have read, he still wanted to take the job.

The real problem was his wife still wasn't sold on the deal. That meant he could chose to move here for less while the wife stayed in LA or he could go back to a big raise and a happy wife.

I will never understand why anyone would criticize the quarterback who left blood, sweat, and tears on the field to bring us a national championship.

Want to blame someone? Blame Dooley for not hiring him last year when Tee was dying to get a job at UTK. If Dooley had answered the damn phone when he was hiring a complete staff last year, Tee would have never had the chance to move out to LA.

According to another site Kiffin called while Tee was here and offered him a raise to $500k from 350k. Our 300k offer paled by comparison. Also it was reported he had to rent a car from the airport because we didn't provide any transportation for him and his family.
