Tennessee's very own Benedict Arnold

To the 25 people so far who have liked my post I thank you.

It is good to see I am not the only fan sick of watching this team get walked all over.

:hi:

Go Vols!

25 huh? That's almost half of 1% of the amount of people that were online when you posted.

Mazel tov!

Hell yes another TM thread, I thought I got em all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mf_surrender::compute::furious3::jpshakehead::censored::the_finger::finger3::spank::Bbiteme::no1::corso::bed_time::horse::horse::horse::horse::horse:

Do you think CBJ low balled him on purpose cause he had someone else in mind? He's Comes out squeaky clean because the popular thing to do was offer Tee and technically he did...

I'm not going to pretend to know what was going on in CBJ head at the time, but I will say that he had NO choice but to at least bring Tee in for an official offer... He would've been instantly outcasted and this place would've gone nuts (which never happens I know) and it would not have been a great start for the Jones regime on Rocky Top.

This program needs momentum. That is something it hasnt had in years... It's been one thing after another whether it's: Kiffin leaving, Sirmon and Wilcox bolting right before signing day, Janzen Jackson episodes, Chronicles of Da'Rick Rogers, Randy Shannon myth, John Gruden Saga, Players not stepping up in crunch time, coaches making bad play calls that cost us the game, The Tennessee rule... I hate to make excuses b/c at the end of the day the good teams find a way to get it done, but we need some positive momentum around here for a change and I think coach Jones is on the right path to get that started again. Give the man a chance!

I somehow doubt $ was the issue considering the substantial differences in tax rates between USC and Tennessee, hence one reason and incentive USC have to keep their coaching salaries a private matter

Who cares about Tee Martin? He is not some top shelf coach we can't do without. It would have been cool to have him here in a nostalgic sense I suppose but we will be fine and he will be fine.

Yes, he helped win us a NC championship. I was a huge fan. Thanks for the memories

But noow let's fast forward to today...no longer a huge fan. Thanks for screwing us in front of the whole nation jackass.

Guy is either a moron or played us for a raise.

First thing he don't fly all the way here, under these circumstances, with your family, only to turn down the job.

Second don't say you gave your word to Kiffin (the man who screwed us) and that you didn't want to break your promise to "those" kids when anyone following you knows you walked out on Kentucky and broke your word there.

You had three options.

1) Politely decline and say you are happy there and never travel here in the first place

2) Take the job here and help us right this ship and get things going again.

3) Travel here, make up a lie as an excuse to stay there, and let the whole world know Kiffin got us again and even our guy who won the NC doesn't want to be here.

You chose option 3 and for that I say thanks for the memories Benedict Arnold.

You never cease to amaze. Why would he pick up a violin on this sinking (sunk) ship?

It would be ignorant to join UT's staff right now. His career trajectory is aimed pretty high. He helped us win a national title, we should be indebted to him forever.

He owes us nothing!

We are not indebted to him at all. He was lucky to be here. He was able to hand off the ball to three NFL starting RB's and throw the ball to two NFL starting receivers.

Right on, brother man. I don't care how many sheep scoff about it. They've been wrong about every damn thing, so them calling others idiots is the pot calling the kettle black.

Friend, I believe you have a right to voice an opinion but, that doesn't mean your opinion is correct. Unless you are completely close-minded I ask you to rethink your position. There is so much more that occurs behind the scenes than what you may see on the surface.
GO BUTCHER VOLS!

I was there when Tee Martin won the NC for UT. Nothing anybody can say will ever change my opinion of him. Great guy and best of luck in the future to him.

Tee is certainly the face of the NC team, and he would have one Hell of a story to romanticize his time with the Vols. (as a recruiter) As others have mentioned, his decision most likely came down to either money or feeling really wanted by Butch Jones. Who really knows besides Tee?

I can't fault the guy for not "taking one for the team" if he felt he would be a better fit at USC.
