Texas A&M coming to the SEC????

By the way, if you want to say that, care to remind me the story of how Florida got to play for the NC in 2006?

they won the SEC

Been nice knowing you......

yeah because that's the way it works. If a poster is intelligent enough to disagree without resorting to blatant personal attacks then they have nothing to fear.

They do?

Seems rules have been interperited on a poster by poster basis around here to me.

Also, tell me

1. Where they were ranked before the SECCG
2. Who they beat in that game
3. And if we'd never expanded if that would have been possible since expansion is bad.

All we are doing is disagreeing. Right? Albeit I think my opinion is the correct and right one.

That being said, I am going to the bar...later.

Again pj, regarding Florida in 2006.

I think them getting in had more to do with people not wanting to see a rematch of OSU/Michigan than anything else, to be honest.

The SEC title game just gave the voters some more time to realize that.

making more things up I see. Never said all expansion was bad and said the SEC did benefit from it in 92. However it did not benefit because the teams were USCjr and Ark specifically but rather from the total being 12 teams.

Do you attribute Auburn's NC to them beating the gamecocks?

Really doesn't matter why to me. Without the expansion of Arkansas and SC, does it happen?

Were they #3 when they beat them to leapfrog to #2?

There were quite a few people claiming OSU and Michigan were easily the two best teams in the country. Lots of people suggesting a rematch.

The rematch was a pretty real fear for a lot of people around here. Florida beating a top ten team in Atlanta the last week of the season while Michigan did nothing was definitely a boost.

only happens with the local media but that's standard for any place. All the people I talk to know plenty about the SEC and UT. The VT exposure/draw also decreases the farther west you go in VA

That's exactly my point pj. the media exposure on a local level gives you valuable exposure. People currently have a cursory knowledge of UT and SEC but its not front and center or sometimes even a secondary topic.

For example, sports talk show in Raleigh will glaze over a big SEC game but an hour talking about bc & clemson because that game impacts unc's standing in the conference. Or in preseason they interview every conference coach increasing that schools exposure. They never interview sec, big 10 or pac 12 coaches because there is no local appeal.

As you said this happens on a local level everywhere. Now if A&M joins the shows in Dallas, Houston and the rest of Texas are forced to write stories about UT. They will have a compelling reason to interview Dooley on the radio giving him another opportunity to get his message out to recruits.

Well, I guess technically speaking Florida was #4 going into the SECCG that year. Then UCLA knocked off #3 USC to set up the situation above.

I suppose the next best thing could have been to boost Louisville from 6 to 2 since they won that same day and skip #5 LSU. But, then again, the SEC being proactive in 92 and adding those whipping posts in Arkansas and SC set the way for Louisville to have a game that day as well so I don't know if that would have happened either.

Oh well, I've made my point. I'd rather be ahead of the curve and it's still a no brainer that A&M to the SEC is a win for every party involved in the deal.

There were, and I don't think opinion changed much after the SEC title game.

Looks A&M has some 'splainin to do.
