Texas A&M/SEC megamerge thread extravaganza

Several writers have pointed out that it's impossible to play an 8-game schedule in 2012 with 13 teams and playing everyone in your division. I doubt A&M/Team 14 will make the move until 2013. A&M playing a semi-SEC schedule for a year could happen, though (maybe they play three or four SEC teams or something, who knows).

There's no need to pay attention to the rumors.

Then help us all out please by separating the wheat from the chaff. Given your location you're obviously close to those who know the truth.

Just reported on Finebaum that the Baylor lawsuit threat is still out there and this is being coordinated by Baylor president, Ken Starr . . . That name ring a bell with anyone?

We have a real live test case to look at though: the MAC has had 13 teams for a few years now (since Temple limped in)...7 teams in the East and 6 in the West. This will change when UMass comes on board next year I think.

Just glancing at a few of their schedules, it looks like some of the East teams only play 5 of the other East teams, then 3 teams from the West. Looks like it's going to be unbalanced any way you slice it.

Wow... that's rather humorous.

God help us if Ken Starr found another blue dress in ATM's closet.

Ha! My phone is being proactive and already autocorrects A&M to ATM.

Setting all the hillbilly jokes to the side for a second, I'm scratching my head as to why Slive thinks WVU would be an attractive fit.

I don't know that their fan and alumni bases are all that large and there's not anything that even remotely resembles a large TV market in that state. Their academic reputation isn't all that strong. And although their football program has flirted with a few national titles in the past ('88 and '07), for the most part the on-field product has been mediocre at best.

Maybe it's just an eastern school that would be easier to pluck than Va Tech or Clemson or FSU...a warm body that helps avoid an uneven league.
