Texas A&M/SEC megamerge thread extravaganza

The B12 letter of 9/2 stated that there would be no litigation if the Aggies were voted into another conference by 5pm on 9/8.
At the time though, it looked like only Texas A&M was leaving and the Big 12 would still survive.

The problem now is that Bob Stoops ran his mouth and it looks like both Oklahoma schools might be looking for a way out too which would destroy the conference and leave Baylor as an insignificant independent or CUSA member and cost them a wad of money.

According to BearsTruth.com’s Brian Ethridge, Texas A&M will be allowed to go to the Southeastern Conference as a deal has been reached between the remaining nine members of the Big 12 that will remove the specter of a potential lawsuit.

According to Ethridge, although it is unlikely that a waiver will ever be signed by all remaining members of the Big 12, the institutions are willing to be party to a gentlemen’s agreement so long as the SEC does not attempt to or agree to poach another school from the Big 12.

TexAgs has gone full retard.

And by that, I mean half the board is blaming the SEC for this mess.

The SEC didn't poach any schools to begin with.

What about Missouri?

what i've been reading was the main stipulation of their dropping the potential lawsuit was that OU reaffirm its commitment to the conference...almost trying to use this just as much against them as A&M

It's all about Oklahoma right now. The Big 12 is a leaning house of cards.

What about Missouri?

I agree, SEC never poached, or so it appears. IF this is a legit report and it did go down (you never know with media jumping the gun) that kind of tells me Missouri is screwed or the SEC is looking elsewhere and not considering Missouri

Pretty clear why WVU jumped up the list now. If true we take the sows ear and leave the PAC to eat the whole pig. Awesome.

They see the writing on the wall, the Big 12 is disbanding and OU is out there for the taking. The SEC can get them if they want them.

I was under the impression OU was not interested in the SEC

Can't see how. I mean Pac crap conference any better? Taking A&M proves they're looking at a much bigger picture. One that might include a team or two that surprises you.

The difference for ou is that they would step into the pac and automatically be the premier program along with sc, texas could keep their network and okie lite and ttu would be okay to come along for the ride. Ku, kstate, baylor, isu, enjoy the cusa bros.

Baylor is very lucky to even be in a BCS AQ conference. The fact that they are threatening with litigation signals how shaky the Big 12 is. The conference will either dissolve or poach a few MWC/CUSA teams and lose AQ status in the next few years.

I understand Baylor would be out a difference of 130 million over the next 12 years if the Big 12 dissolves and they go to CUSA. So you can bet they are going to sue to get some compensation.

I understand that the SEC doesn't want any chance of any sort of suit, but really, what sort of weak case do any of these schools have?

they'd have no case at all... same as what happened when the Big East sued the ACC over VT leaving in 2003. Question is going to be whether the SEC lets them in anyway... or if they say no you can't come bc of the threats.
