Setting all the hillbilly jokes to the side for a second, I'm scratching my head as to why Slive thinks WVU would be an attractive fit.
I don't know that their fan and alumni bases are all that large and there's not anything that even remotely resembles a large TV market in that state. Their academic reputation isn't all that strong. And although their football program has flirted with a few national titles in the past ('88 and '07), for the most part the on-field product has been mediocre at best.
Maybe it's just an eastern school that would be easier to pluck than Va Tech or Clemson or FSU...a warm body that helps avoid an uneven league.
As it stands currently:
The teleconference has concluded. Baylor's Ken Starr has expressed his intentions to sue TAMU if they elect to leave. Other reps around the conference have attempted to sway his decision to not do so, in order to allow us to go( despite rumors that claim otherwise).
Thus far, no announcement foreseeable today, unless Starr makes a call to announce he has changed his mind.
So Baylor is continuing to be a bunch of *****es?
While I understand Starr's position...the A&M train left the station weeks ago. In a way, I feel sorry for Baylor. Their athletic program is living on borrowed time...and truth be known, it's not A&M that should be focus of their wrath...it should be that other school 90 minutes down I-35.
Baylor is applying the only leverage that is left to them. If the Oklahoma schools had kept their mouths shut for a few more days then this would all be moot but it did not go down that way.
