Texas A&M/SEC megamerge thread extravaganza

How come they're not threatening to sue Nebraska and Colorado? Why isn't Baylor upset over the sweetheart deals Texas gets over and over?

As always, Baylor officials are working hard with the university's best interests in mind. It's important that Baylor remain on the national stage, so that people nationwide get to learn about BU and all that it has to offer -- as they did with the big win over TCU Friday, and the men's basketball team's Elite Eight run, and the women's basketball national championship, and ... well, you get the idea.

This is why Baylor is pulling the stunt. They are posturing for the future whether it be with someone else to settle or claim to have played the David vs Goliath role.

They're just acting in their own best interest, which is exactly what Texas did in starting that network, what Nebraska and Colorado did when they left, and what A&M is doing now.

Of course that's the larger problem...nobody cares about the greater good. With no central leadership in college athletics, each school/conference is free to only look out for number 1. It's every man for himself.

The SEC should man up and take A&M even with the possible lawsuit baggage. All that sounds likes a bunch of nonesense to me anyway. How can you ask 9 other schools to waive all their rights; either we want A&M or we don't.

Why didn't they sue Nebraska or Colorado? This isn't only about TV or the revenues. Its also about getting out of a conference set up to benefit one school. Baylor should be suing Texas.

Agree with this. Texas is arrogant thinking they deserve more of the share. If I were Slive, or TA&M, I would tell Baylor that I would consider a counter suit for the same reason they are suing. That knife cuts both ways.

Where was Baylor's concern for traditional rivalries and the sanctity of the sport when they were politicing their way into the Big 12, leaving TCU, SMU, Rice, and Houston in the lurch?

If Baylor turns the knife on Texas, then they've painted themselves into a corner. Texas will head to the Pac-12, collapsing the Big XII, and Baylor will be slumming it in C-USA or the Mountain West.

I think they realize their only shot at remaining (somewhat) relevant is to continue riding Texas' coattails in the Big XII. The fact that Texas is taking a much bigger piece of the revenue pie is a secondary concern for them.

I fully understand both sides of this coin! Baylor is wanting to keep their conference together so they dont fall back into obscurity which they just left. They want/need the revenue as much as any other school in that conference.

On the other side of the coin, A&M is doing nothing different than what Colorado and Nebraska recently done, and that's taking care of their school's future with a solid revenue which is given through the SEC.

There's always 2 sides to every story. With that being said, if all of the schools in the big 12 with the exception of Baylor saying its okay for A&M to go, A&M WILL be a part of the SEC. 1 School is NOT going to stop this from happening.

If Baylor is so pissed and irate about this, why dont they make a move to enter the SEC as well. All is takes is a request to the SEC. Who knows, they may take them. If not, they can always go somewhere else.

If Baylor is pissed, why dont they sue the Big 12 for not moving faster on this issue and them becoming a mega conference? Better yet, sue them because they let Texas make that fat contract for the Longhorn network. Life is not fair or equal in the big 12...lets face it, that's why they are losing all of their teams!

Bingo. What goes around...

exactly...also, who is baylor's biggest rival in the Big 12? Oh yeah, they have not been there long enough to have something like that...lol

They are preaching a good game however, they are not looking at the big picture.

Baylor will not succed. We will get Texas A&M and then someone else to make the SEC 14 teams. We may even get bigger than that. Baylor is just delaying the inevitable.

Baylor can suck an egg.

Yeah, baylor is talking about historic rivals. What about the Oklahoma and Nebraska rivalries from back in the day...better yet, Arkansas and Texas? There will be new rivalries come out of this...

Baylor is a joke. They're just upset because they are going to be in the CUSA soon.

I'm not sure that they are valuable enough to C-USA. C-USA already has Rice, SMU, Houston, and UTEP. I'm not sure if Baylor really helps them in that state.

I think it's much more likely that Baylor winds up in the WAC or MAC.
