Texas A&M/SEC megamerge thread extravaganza

I've been feeling WVU all along. They have no political pressure and have basically been quietly begging to join the SEC.

Where are you reading all of this? Not that I don't trust what you're saying, just curious.

Twitter mainly. Looks like a local ESPN radio station reported it first, and several others have reinforced it since.

Still not set in stone, but thought the sudden reemergence of this was interesting.

I felt once A&M was accepted, everything would fall into place. Im positive that the SEC has been quietly active on the 14th school for quite some time.

I have no idea what is happening. However, I think it was comical that Slive was in front of the media this evening saying--with a straight face--that the conference was just fine with 13 members. It was almost as amusing as Cheek was when he said the conference should have 12 members, just two days before he voted to add another.

An ESPN radio guy in New Jersey, whom is a WVU alum, is saying he:

"hearing #WVU people, the hope from the WVU people, is that this will get done."

The other stations are just linking to what he said.

It isn't credible, but more wishful thinking from the Whitetrash Virginia University faithful.

Supposedly there will be a press conference on Wednesday. Vote to accept them was 10-2 (Vandy and USCe were the only opponents).

Not sure how I feel about this if true. I don't like WVU or their fans, but honestly, if the SEC is bent on adding an eastern team, they're the best option available.

I would be stunned.

To this point, there has been no vote. Their previous application two weeks ago was not even formally considered.

What is on the application? How long is it? Is it a form any school can download off the Internet?

I was thinking of submitting an application for the small liberal arts college I attended.

Oh well.

I don't know what there is to this West Virginia rumor. but apparently there are people close to that program who believe it is true.

I wouldn't believe any of the **** that comes out of the mouths of anyone related to the WVU program.

I always assumed you were almost as old as PCAD.

There's a lot of chatter this morning that Mizzou is on the way as #14.

RT @greggdoyelcbs: Bu-bu-bu the SEC said they weren't going to go to 14 any time soon! Liars. Welcome, Mizzou. Matter of time now.

So the Big Ten pays teams $3-4 million more per year than the SEC (I read this on a blog)? Maybe Missouri should hold out a little longer to cash in.

They pay $3-4 more million per year, but that includes third tier media rights, which SEC schools currently keep and sell on their own. Most schools make more than that on theirs.
