Texas A&M/SEC megamerge thread extravaganza

Jon Sharpe, the new A&M Chancellor, made these comments yesterday regarding the SEC...

“We want to keep the rivalry game with Texas, and we’ve told them we’re ready to keep that,” Sharp said. “If that game isn’t (played), it will not be our fault. It will be because Texas decided not to.”

Followed by this...

Sharp concluded with, “We are going to the Southeastern Conference to play with the big boys,” and then jokingly added, “That will come back to haunt me.”

Well, it looks like WVU is gaining steam again. Several outlets saying it will happen by the end of the week.

I'd welcome it with open arms. We need the 14th now and it'll keep the UT/Bama rivalry locked without making things difficult. Morgantown is an SEC-acceptable town and I think their fans have the enthusiasm to fit in.

Supposedly there will be a press conference on Wednesday. Vote to accept them was 10-2 (Vandy and USCe were the only opponents).

Not sure how I feel about this if true. I don't like WVU or their fans, but honestly, if the SEC is bent on adding an eastern team, they're the best option available.

Where are you reading all of this? Not that I don't trust what you're saying, just curious.

If it keeps things stable, as in East and West both at 7 without having to move Auburn to the east then I'm fine with it. My whole concern is with UT/Bama rivalry.
