Thank god we lost

Yes, and he managed to that by losing this game. It stopped all possibilities of fans propping up a misleading 7-5 record resume to retain him.

The misleading resume is exactly what got him his 2nd and 3rd year.

We're not rooting against Tennessee. We're rooting against horrible coaching, and for only ONE game, in the hopes of preventing another terrible year. We're looking ahead, because we care. Just like the Colts fans who acknowledged the benefit of losing their last 2011 game to snag Luck.

Unless Dooley went 0-12 his first year, he was going to get a 2nd and 3rd year based on the dumpster fire he inherited alone. Let's not act like he walked into a golden situation. The way UT lost to LSU and UNC cast doubt in my mind and I'm sure others. The loss to Ky last year made this year a make or break year. A 7-5 record with no signature wins was not a slam dunk that he was going to be back next year.

Comparing the NFL to college is apples and oranges. Not even the same thing or situation.

He's just a loser, plain and simple. Only someone used to being a loser can be happy.

You just dont get it do you? Everyone flaming me is going to get to sit back and reap the benefits of this loss without ever having to acknowledge to themselves how important this loss was in facilitating the change. To assume dooleys firing was inevitiable before this loss was foolish. It was likely, but not guaranteed. I never actively cheered for us to lose, hbut when I saw the fan and media reaction to the loss, it was obvious that the loss was beneficial beyond measure. My op has been contorted into god knows what at this point...but it speaks the truth, no matter how much you may disagree with the sentiment.

Me too.
Stephen you coming to Ga game next yr?

Sadly I don't think so. I think I will be going to see the pack again. (Need to think of my dad, who will be coming with me) I will, you have my word. When we get back to being a superpower I will make te trip. Don't want to see us get destroyed because it takes me a whole year of saving nearly all my wages to go in my current state.

A win would have changed nothing. Dools is out.

Oh no, we're going to go 6-6 instead of 7-5, whatever will we do?

Who cares, a loss was coming at some point....I would rather it be Mizzou than Vandy.

Long term this will work in our benefit, Dooley is done. If he were to win out there would still be morons on here begging for 10 more years of garbage football with Dooley.

Okay so TN lost, some people are happy about it, others very Unhappy about. But its over, Dooley is gone so can we at least get back on the same side now and hope these players get to a bowl game? Or will that still give to much of a chance for Dooley to return next season(I personally think that's a dumb thought - HE'S GONE)?

Yes it is over and was before the game. Wanting my team to lose is never ok in my opinion. Sheer ignorance. Again my opinion. SMH

To call yourself a Vol fan and wish the team to Lose is disgusting... this thread is an embarrassment and should be not even in this forum..

Sacrilege? Not even close. With that loss even big media members are publicly calling for dooley's firing, nevermind the entire fanbase. I dont see how any fan could conclude that a 4 ot win would be anywhere near as valuable to the program as this loss is.

Trying to weigh the Short-term sadness the players might feel from yet ANOTHER dooley loss up against the brighter future this program just won itself last night is incomparable and ignorant at best. no one has hurt the kids more than dooley and his incompetence...not sure how this could be refuted.

Good post.

True fans would want this blight on humanity removed from the sidelines. He is a whiny little beeeoch - a Saban wannabe without the brains or the record. He does not deserve to walk the sidelines of our great university. He is a vile, despicable little weasel who needs to be run out of here on a rail! To pull for this tard is to pull against the sacred, honorable winning tradition of UT football!!

Ironic name is ironic

This idea of losing for some greater good is BS. You want to throw the baby out with the bath water? Burn the house down to get rid of the termites? Makes no sense to my "fan ship".

Blasphomey! (sp?):bad:

Wtf? I just explained why in my post. are you really gonna sit here and tell me that loss didnt benefit the program. Not sure if youre trying to be a hero or just in denial. Regardless, know this...at least half the folks here (probably more) agree with me on this. The other half are just too chivalrous to say it out loud

chivalrous fans ??? Is that another word for stupid ?

Was at the game and was blown away. Was rootin for the vols hard, but not too sad to see them lose. It happens. Dooley gone=good! The man is just the most unlucky I've ever seen. Hopefully his luck changes somewhere else.

Insunseri, while i agree its time for a coaching change, your "thank god we lost" post ? I put a curse on you for erectile dysfunction, I guess thats better than saying your a freaking idiot, our kids deserve better from us fans. Idiot. GBO

Yes a true fan blindly supports the moron regardless of 3 years of proof he can't cut it.

A fan NEVER pulls for his/her team to lose. If anyone believes they can or want the team, they do not know the definition of fan. How ever you try to justify your statement, it is a clear indication that you or anyone else who want our team to lose have never been a fan of Tennessee football. It is almost like want you mother or father to have an illness and suffer until death. Take a rest and go your own pathetic way. I do wish that one of our football players or one of our football player who have already left our Great University, meets you on the street some day and hear you saying you are glad we lost a football game. It would probably be the last thing you ever said. You would earn the beating of your life. Maybe YOU need to understand the extent of your hideous statement.

There is a difference between pulling for your team to lose and realizing in hindsight that the loss was unquestionably the single best thing that could have happened. Instead of trying to refute the unshakable logic in my op, people have just found it easier to demonize me with disingenuous and empty platitudes like "a true fan would never be happy about a loss". Generic comments like that don't take in to account the unholy mess dooley has put this team in, but they sound nice and will get easy thumbs up
