Thank you Bruce Pearl

Hopson was supposed to be, if I am not mistaken I think Hopson was higher ranked the Tyreke. Tyreke is a great ball player, I enjoy watching him play, he gets better every game and has done all this through a position change.

Hopson was never supposed to be a 1 and done player.

My complaint is this: here at the end of February, neither Hopson nor Tatum nor Woolridge nor Maze are playing any better than they did against Chattanooga (1st game) or Georgetown (1st good team they played). Regardless of our young players' talent, when they show no improvement, there is one man to be held accountable.

The difference between Tyreke and Hopson is not talent. Tyreke is physically much more mature than Hopson. That is what translates into one and done players most of the time. For example, Rose was stronger than any guard we had on our team last year as a freshman. Hopson will get there when he puts on some muscle. The talent is clearly there. And westtn, you need to give it up. You wouldn't have even been looking forward to this year had it not been for Bruce Pearl. Cut the man some slack.

I have to agree.Dissapointing is the Vols men basketball team. They were overrated at the beginning of the season. We didn't overrate them.I know I didn't. We lost to much from last years team to be expected to roll thru our conference. That is simply put. We lost to much to be considered to win the East.We lost to much to be considered a top 20 team at the beginning of the season. Now we have lost enough to know where we are in college basketball.I'd rate this tennessee team # 6 in the SEC. # 60 in the country.I don't like it when we lose miserably like we did today, either. No true TENNESSEE VOL fan does either. I guess you (westvoltn) are a better coach than Pearl.Probably Summit when are girls aren't looking to good. I'm sure there is not a question in your mind you should be head coach of our football team. But until you make it and win us a championship in any UT sport,( I'll even throw Ice Hockey in the mix ). You are all JACKED UP !!!!

Attack the point, not the poster please.

Point is the poster made a ridiculous claim, and he's being hounded for it. It's unrealistic to think that the University of Tennessee would have a national championship contending basketball team every single year. It's unrealistic to buy into the preseason hype of winning another SEC championship outright. Coach Pearl is an excellent coach having an off year. The original poster is a tool for thinking the way that he or she does.

If you enjoyed ANY of the past 3 years in basketball, then you should probably keep your mouth shut. Especially when you claim you could have done a better job. There is a reason Pearl is making 2 million dollars a year and you aren't.

when is it ok for us to ask the team to take the next step? winning is ok, but its time to take it to the next level. thats all im saying.

He has a little bit better track record than Bruce does, I like Bruce, dont get me wrong, I think he is doing a great job. I dont want anybody to get the wrong idea, I think Bruce is doing a great job. Bruce has done a good job. Dont get me wrong I like Bruce, I am just disappointed with the way things are going. I think Bruce is a good coach, I hope he stays for a long time. Dont get the wrong idea, Bruce is good, Howland has a little better track record.

Asking a team with 6 newcomers that loses 3 of their top scorers to 'take the next step' after winning 31 games is a little ridiculous.

Speaking of playing like a freshman, Wayne Chism played like one today. When is somebody going to tell him he is not a 3-point shooter?

Thats crazy. Coach Pearl had to grab a PG at the last minute and thats the position that we needed to fill most. After that, its just been a snowball effect.

I only wish that he would go crazy on one of our players after a bone head play or after that player getting a little lazy. I don't care who it is, just bench that player for the rest of the game and put the fear in the rest of the players. The lack of heart is on the players end, Coach Pearl sure doesn't stop coaching before the game is over, some players stop playing.

I think he went pretty crazy on all of them at Auburn.

Wasn't the Ole Miss guard who torched us a Freshman (or Sophmore) that we didn't even offer?!?!

The difference between Ole Miss and UT...we make the NCAA tournament and they don't.

Oh, by the way....

Strength of schedule: #3
RPI: #18

Once again, I think we are doing decent considering our youth. We flat out don't match up well against Kentucky, and we don't have a 3 point shooter. In time, this team will win the close games like we did the past 2 years. There is no need to start calling for Pearl's head right now. In 5 years if we stink and don't make the dance, then you can call for his head. But to do it right now, IMO, is a little premature.

1. youth has nothing to do with effort. we are lazy, and play no defense.

2. we don't match up with anyone because well, we don't play defense

3. if this team never plays defense we will nvr win close games

4. pearl doesn't have 5 years to have mediocre year. to be realistic if he doesn't improve like he hasn't this year he will be out in 3 yrs tops.

don't get me wrong i like bruce, he has put life into the bball program. but the fact is this team has not improved on anything all year. makes you wonder what they do in practice

Speaking of playing like a freshman, Wayne Chism played like one today. When is somebody going to tell him he is not a 3-point shooter?

There is a coaching issue when the other team guards your smallish PF with their center and leaves Chism with their undersized PF and Chism hurls threes and fails to rebound. That's a coaching issue. Playing as lost of a box & 1 as possible is coaching. No offensive movement or gameplan is coaching. Opposition regularly shooting north of 50% is coaching. Getting blown out at Ole Miss is coaching.

Bruce has been a difference maker to this program and athletic department, but his coaching and player development has been awful. Wayne Chism is exhibit 1 in a long list of problems.
