Thank you Bruce Pearl

well atleast Bruce is standing up for whats going on instead of saying we are going to look at the tape and work like heck.
"As a head coach, I've never been so embarrassed by how I coached or how our team played,'' said Pearl, who hadn't lost back-to-back SEC games in more than two years. "I apologize to our fans and the University of Tennessee.

"We didn't play with poise, we didn't play with passion and we had no purpose. I thought there were times we quit.''

Leave Bruce alone....He's done more for us than anybody in years...It's a down year and it'll get better soon...At least We are over .500...With those other excuses for coaches we were lucky to get to the NIT.

Dynamite drop in Dustin, that broadcasting school really paid off.

(off Major League)

you can only do but so much as a coach. do you expect him to go out there and make all the shots and big lays for them? yes im disappointed too but theres no need to whine and wanting to fire the coaching staff and cut all the players.

from the other thread..... Just because people are disappointed doesnt mean they want Bruce gone. Bruce has created great expectations that he has failed to meet this year, people are going to be disappointed does that mean they want him fired NO. Do people want to fire Stoops because he lost the NC game last year, no I but I am willing to bet that they were disappointed they did not win. There is a HUGE difference between disappointment and wanting someone fired.

I do not want Bruce gone but to go along with your "coach doesnt shoot the jump shot stuff" Phil Fulmer did not go out there and throw the passes either last year and look what that got him, I cant stand it when people say the coach doesnt play but he is responsible. I DO NOT want Bruce gone, I was just making a comparison of your comments.

One of Tennessee's problems is that they absolutely refuse to play defense...That's OK (I guess) if you can always count on outscoring your opponent... That and the basic UT scheme has been figured out by opposing coaches. I predict at least two more losses before the tourney... I hink we can beat State but Florida is on the road and South Carolina presents (yet another) matchup problem for the Vols... CBP needs to either re-scheme or get players who can execute the scheme that is in place.

What do you freaking expect when you lose your top 3 scorers.

Memphis lost their 3 best players to the NBA and they're doing alright . I'm not trying to stir the pot , but just saying you have enough talent to be a top 15 program but are not . Who's fault is this ? Every ones , the players , and the coaches . Maybe TN will gel during the tournament , I sure hope so because it's killing Millsfield Vol .

I think TN belongs in the field of 65 , I just hope they bring their A game , COACHES included !!!!!:peace2:

One thing is for sure, the team chemistry is not there this year. We don't have a Lofton, or Dwayne Bradshaw there to make the team "gel" like it has in the past few years. So Pearl is having a down year. We can play well when we want to aka Vandy and Fla. at home. It boils down to simple fundamentals. REBOUNDING and FREE THROW SHOOTING.

This team has nothing to hang its hat on, look at the past couple of years we have always had something we do well, pressure D, good 3 point shooting team, this year we have nothing, terrible D, terrible shooters, and our best rebounder plays like he is a 5'9 point guard and takes 3's the entire game.

its called we dont have a single player who can consistantly hit open 3s so teams can play zone non stop against us and stop us from scoring inside

then it still comes back to CBP since he's in charge of recruiting too. Still waiting for you to make a point

You want the point...you can't handle the point. Point is, the Vols are down this year. Sorry you can't win a title in a mediocre SEC. Is that point enough for you?

Who exactly would you hire instead of BP that could produce in such a short time? He has taken you to 2/3 of your Sweet 16s in only 4 years. For a BB program that has 0 national success, some fans are pretty demanding. That's all.

The Vols lack hustle, heart, determination, defense, and chemistry - all problems that are coachable. The problems this year fall directly on Pearl as he correctly stated today. Why would he recruit big guards (Hopson, Woolridge) who don't have that fight and commitment to defense when that's the heart of his game? Why was he not able to look into Hopson's eye when he was recruiting him and not see real heart and commitment? Hopson's been a bust - may a 3-star at best. Why does Pearl continue to play Maze who is also a bust? For God's sake the Vols are going to lose 12 to 13 games and go to the NIT so why not try other options? Hubert is a great shooter - try him. He can't be any worse than what's on the floor. Pearl is a good coach but not a great one - he's still got a long way to go. This year we saw that he has many weaknesses.

I'm pretty sure it's "Dane Bradshaw." Unless you are speaking of someone none of us has seen. Maybe this Dwayne you speak of may be an upgrade over Maze. Somebody find this Dwayne Bradshaw please.

What an idiotic post... This has been CBP best coaching job yet... If you listened to the post game show, you heard him say that he did a poor job coaching today, that most of our team quit, didn't play hard or smart, and apologized to our fans for embarrassing the university... CBP is class.... When's the last time you heard a football coach say that?.... Like it or not, we aren't North Carolina or UCONN...... Yet......

Crews wasn't a starter. Now, the Pearlophiles are taking a page from the Fulmerites and just making up facts to defend their guy. Nice.
Give the guy a break. Given Wayne Chism's habit of disappearing, it's easy to mistake him for a guy that isn't there anymore.

I'm a little disappointed by how many games UT has lost this year. I expected more losses this year than last year but not this many. I believe UT should have beat Temple, Gonzaga once, UK once, & Ole Miss.

"The Vols lack hustle, heart, determination, defense, and chemistry"......exactly!
