"The greatest season in Tennessee basketball history ended with a lackluster loss to Louisville in the Sweet 16, but even the most ardent Vol fan couldn't have been too disappointed. Realistically, coach Bruce Pearl and his staff had coaxed all they could out of a team that had more weaknesses than its 31 wins, brief rein at No. 1 -- after an upset win at Memphis in February -- and SEC championship would suggest.

Pearl did a great job of camouflaging those weaknesses; in fact, he did it for three years. That he coaxed 77 wins out of a team that was fairly small, couldn't defend that well and was inconsistent at the free-throw line was nothing short of remarkable."

I wish Pearl would stop the following:
a)Chism shooting a 3 , he belongs under the basket.
b)Maze driving to the hoop, the ball gets smacked out of his hand almost everytime and its embarassing
c)Wearing that jacket

I think Bruce has improved the team but can anyone tell me why he will not play Childress?

How many of UT's games have been televised this year? ALL OF THEM!!! Prior to Coach Pearl coming on they might have been televised 4 times (2x's against UK and 2x's against UF). We are getting more exposure because of what Coach Pearl has done and that benefits both basketball and Football. When you lose Lofton, Smith, and then also have to dismiss Crews and Smith you have to expect a drop off in talent. UT will still make the NCAA tourney. Maybe the success of the past 3 years has spoiled many of us to the point we will never be satisfied?

Ok I will agree with you Bruce Pearl is a class act, the man always says what needs to be said. Now on to the first part of your post, you are joking right? Bruce has done a much better job in his first 3 years than what is going on this year. Let me see some facts to why you think this is his best coaching year, is it because we can not play D to save our lives, is it because our best offense is when our big man is taking 3's, or is it because we can not get a defensive rebound if our lives depended on it??

Exactly. I love Pearl and the circus atmosphere he brings to the game and we will probable get into the NCAA tourney because the media loves BP. However, watching the Auburn, Ole Miss, Kentucky and Gonzagax2 games, I agree he has not done a very good job this year coaching.

Maybe if one of the teams from this super SEC makes it far enough we'll get to see them play a conference USA team . We wouldn't have 54 wins in a row in the sec but we we would have little problems with most of the teams in the sec this year , and we also lost our players to the NBA . Where are the Vols players now that's not on the squad .:ermm:

That has nothing to do with anything...those Vols players beat the Memphis ones and I was there

anyone who watched Childress in at the end of the UGA and UK games over the past two weeks can see how bad Childress really is. He was an OK role player (at best) 2 years ago, but there is really 0 purpose of giving him any real minutes now.

My point you may not understand ,because your team has never been in that position , but there's a little pressure in the NC game .

You have to climb the ladder before you reach the top . So far the VOLS have vot even sniffed the top . I want the VOLS to be good , and they have the potential to be good , but there's a problem somewhere , and it needs to be resolved .

And yes we choked and i'll be the first to admit it , but at least we were there to choke while the VOLS were watching from the couch!

I wish I knew what's going on with the VOLS , I think it's mainly because of the lack of consistency from the outside . This really hurt us early in the year and could come back to haunt us again . ( I hope not though )

Bruce has been thinking with his penis for to long.....what did you guys think would happen? He divorced his wife, built a 2 million plus house and has a "sweet young thing" on his arm. The money went to his head!

I predict this will not have a happy ending......
