That's racist!

But for what reason? Is it because it actually contains more racists, or because the Dems were the first to come up with weaponizing racism? Ask yourself, is either party actually working toward eradicating racism? I certainly don't think so. This shouldn't be about pandering to stereotypes.
Of course I think it's because it contains more racists. I think Obama was working toward a much less racist society. The people on here who claim Obama only divided and made it a more racist society, are the people who were uncomfortable with a less racist society. Many were perfectly happy and content with the way things were. Thus....MAGA

Did you live in a different Reality for the Obama term.

While I don’t think he tried to divide people he sure wasn’t interested in bringing everyone together either. Can you name one thing he did to bring people together?

I think he was well aware that there was no way to bring everyone together. He was changing who would be left out. (the people who didn't want everyone to come together)

Welfare. He got them all together there. Whites, blacks, and browns.
The man worked miracles.

He had the beer summit, so he could blame the cops and get a photo op. If he had a son, he would have looked like Trayvon.

I sarcastically like how you ascribe the most noble intent to all the Ds do.
I hope one day someone will love me the way you do them.

Obama was no more colorblind than any one else. He saw color when it was politically convenient no different than many other politicians on both sides do and have done. The idea that the left's goal is to usher in a less racist society where color doesn't matter and the black communities are lifted out of despair is hilarious. All they need to sell is "the racist white Rs" not, look how we helped you progress. If its not broke....

What specifically did Obama do to work toward a "much less racist society"?

So you’re saying he was interested in unifying people who were interested and unifying with him. Yeah, I consider that not trying.

Your not going to achieve that when you come out of the gate with "elections have consequences" as your attitude. He never had the desire to do that. Saying there was no way he could accomplish it with "everybody" is a decent cover for the failure to try tho. It may get the less informed.

Its fair.

It also doesn't make it better.
Nope, but that is just how it is going to be until Trump is out of office. He obviously has no interest in trying to bridge the divide, otherwise he wouldn't use divisive rhetoric and call for violence against people that disagree with him, not to even mention his ideas on policy. Many of his supporters love it because he's "sticking it to the libtards," and the left absolutely despises him for far too many reasons to list. It is obvious he has no interest in any semblance of cohesion.

Just my opinion obviously, but I didn't see this level of visceral hatred from Obama. He absolutely could have done more to be a unifier. But I don't think he actively tried to divide people based on race, religion, sex, orientation, etc. Trump seems to relish in the chaos and pushes for more division along social lines as opposed to policy. Most of you will disagree with me, but that is just how I see it.

It probably won't even change with the next President, I think we are too far down this road.

Why start with that when the conversation had nothing to do with him?

Obama was just as divisive he got a pass however.

Did I give you the benefit of the doubt prematurely.

Trump is a whole other topic. He said President Obama brought people together. If you agree with each other to begin with how is that bringing people together?
I think Obama brought liberals and moderates together. There was a portion of the country that was never going to support him no matter what he said or did to unify people.

Thats too convenient of an excuse. He had no plans to unify anyone that didn't agree with him from the beginning. He had a mandate when he won and said as much.
Heck he had Ds running for office that got as far away as they could from him come election time. He was a pompous divisive figure that stood on his historical election triumph as opposed to actually making a positive change.

Obama prompted racism and is nothing but a race baiter.

How could he attempt to unify everyone if a group of Americans were immediately opposed to him no matter what, long before he even won the primaries?

How did he try to unify people? He was anti Semitic. He was anti law enforcement. He was a race baiter. He was a racist. The man doesn’t have a single accomplishment after serving 8 years. All he did was divide.
