The 2008 Carolina Panthers thread

So many people have tried to trash talk us Panther fans, but either they come with something incredibly weak (as has been the case recently) or we are just flat out classy and have faith.

Who's trash talking? You guys just got doubled up by Gus Frerotte.

How many touchdowns did the Head Butter have?

How many touchdowns did his defense have?

who cares, once Smith was out for the 1st two games, you ask any panther fan after 3 games if you're 2-1 would you take it? 100% of them should say YES emphatically.

we got atl at home this weekend and then KC next week......two very winnable games and could be 4-1, hopefuly at worst, 3-2. no reason to panic or get up in arms at that point.......we're off to a good start.........can it be maintained....?

Keeping the wins at home is a big obstacle this year and it's a must. I'm surprised they are a 7 point favorite against ATL, but I will take it and hope for the win this Sunday!

Falcons aren't going to win in Char.:good!:

Good thing you didn't watch the game then. It wouldve been apparent that it was John Fox that owned us.

i think this game is more important for Carolina than Atlanta. Atlanat is a bit of a surprise upstart in the NFC right now. Ryan is playing well, and ATL is leading the league in rushing. Ryan has yet to make the mistakes a rookie can to lose a game, and he's made enough plays down field that you have to respect it. dangerous combination.

for us, this is a game we're supposed to win. it's a home game. we lose it and go 2-2 this early, the same questions will come back about this team that have been here for the past 3 years. if this team is a real contender, then this is the kidn of game you win. plain and simple.

all that said, losing this game doesn't mean the season is over, but if early returns are correct, the NFC looks to have taken a giant leap in competition level, so 9-7 in this league for once might not be good enough.

For me, it's pretty simple. They had two of the worst teams in the league on their schedule, and beat them both: Detroit and Kansas City.

If the Panthers can stop Turner/Norwood, then Matt Ryan will try to take some shots and he will burn himself.

Also, Steve Smith's ultimate nemesis, DeAngelo Hall, is no longer in ATL so I expect him to have a big day while the running game controls the clock throughout the game.

For the love of God! I jumped on the Dante Rosario train in one of my Fantasy League's. Will you please tell Jake to get him the DAMN ball! Thanks.

in fairness, i think you have to check your drafting skills if you're drafting a TE from the panthers and expecting serious contributions for your fantasy team.

I did not draft him. I picked him after his first game. Fox was saying they were going to focus on getting him the ball more. Both leagues that I have him my teams are undefeated. He is not starting but since my other TE I got was LJ Smith (missed the live draft) my TE's were week. Therefore I used a high waiver for Rosario. I was hoping what Fox said proved to be true.

either way, relying on a TE from the panthers was an ill advised choice given the history of the TE with the panthers under John Fox.

Great win at home today. Can't complain about much other than the refs being quite anal in the beginning, but I'm happy we scored more touchdowns than fieldgoals. Great start so far! Go panthers!

Nice article to hear the panthers in the positive spotlight again.

Delhomme is back, better than before - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

"While the playoffs are far off, the potential is clear. Carolina has its quarterback, its leader and its personality back. After everything stalled out here, it’s soaring again. What was once a year-in, year-out contender has survived the storm."

As stated before, keep these guys healthy throughout the season, and things could go very well.

Couldn't watch the game, but saw all of the stats. Good job not to let up on the pretenders that are the Falcons. Bucs in Tampa Bay will be a big game.

very pleased over all.......the only two things i thought really needed work......3rd down conversions on offense and penalties.......otherwise, they played very well, nice to get a double digit home win.

Windy, you posted a link that is praising Jake Delhomme? WTF?

Well in my defense, I originally clicked on a link that said something about the panthers are soaring or something of the like...I can't help it if they change it to being all about delhomme. :p
