The 2008 Carolina Panthers thread

Inconsistency seems to be a plague for many teams this year.

Hopefully the Panthers will play like world beaters against the Saints

The vols are inconsistent? Heck I thought they were consistently bad.....:birgits_giggle:

Are you still going to try to go to that game?

I actually meant other NFL teams.

The Vols have been very consistent, as you said

I haven't had any luck with Tix yet, but I want to go. I might just have to buy outside the stadium.

Well say what you will about the awful performance, but at least these things are correctable mistakes.

Blocked punt for a FG, 3 tipped passes for INT, one of those on our 20 (leading to a TD), a dropped Smitty TD, and getting 3 from the one yard line.

We may have been outplayed on out classed, but I don't see this as evidence that we can't be a strong playoff team.

Call me crazy.

You are crazy.

Blocked punt for TD has happened before so that hasn't changed....dropped passes as well....and getting 3 out of a series instead of 7 is a common theme for the panthers...

...with all that being said, I hope the team can step it up and turn things around, stop making stupid mistakes, play with heart every game, and stop getting so many penalties...I would love to see one game without a false start.

They looked great today. Less penalties today too which was a nice change. I think both penalties on both sides for the late hit were a little on the bogus side, but at least both teams got called to make it consistent.

The one thing I think Carolina drives off of is turnovers, the more turnovers the better the offense seems to play. Glad to see they took advantage of the turnovers.

It's lonely in here after such a big win.

Good to see:
- Peppers is back. And he solidified that at the best possible time, generating a crucial pass rush against a guy that was on pace to break Marino's single season yardage record.
- As Windy said, the lack of penalties was refreshing, and especially for an offensive line that gave Jake loads of time to pass down field.
- Steve Smith and Delhomme have a rare chemistry that isn't easily found. The way they are in sync is why we made it to the Super Bowl and the NFC Championship Game so many years ago.
- Remember the days when we used to go 8-0 at home? Those were the days of Stephen Davis and playoff wins. We could very well go 6-2 or 7-1 this year and with that advantage in the playoffs anything can happen.
- Perfect time for a bye week followed by two out of three gimmes. Time to rest up and make a little run in the South.

Well there are only about 5 of us, so it won't always be hopping....plus Jake is a little slow to get in his response usually but not Surf, a little disappointed in him this week. :p

Smith is looking great this year, the only thing from yesterday was a pass that he dropped that went right into his hands that looked like he would have clearly ran for a touchdown. There was one of his touchdowns right after the half that I wasn't sure about it being a touchdown when I first saw the play, didn't realize it until I saw the fans throw their hands up, I had originally thought one of the two defenders around him had intercepted. Glad to see he can pull the ball in under those circumstances, just shows how great of an athlete he is.

A bye week would be nice, however it is not this week. :p We have Arizona and then a bye week. As the commentators said, the next few games SHOULD be wins that will let Carolina run for it.

I was the same way with the touchdown. I didn't think there was any way it was caught, but the fans in the endzone were quick with the reaction. Those are actually where my PSLs used to be when I was in high school.

And good catch, for some reason I thought the bye was week 8. But! Watch out for 'Zona, they did control the Dallas game which had a healthy Romo.

big win, bad loss, big win.........let's see the trend end this weekend.

that was as impressive a game as i've seen by the Panthers in a while.

It was a great game. I lucked out and got Tix in Sect 126 outside the stadium.

Hopefully the Panthers can play like that again this week.

Go Panthers !

I heard the crowd was pretty into it, what was it like inside the stadium?

The sound was turned off where I was watching.

That's awesome, glad you had a fun time and got tickets, nice to get in lower level too! When they showed the stadium it looked like plenty of seats in the upper deck so I'm sure you would have had no problem getting tickets either way!

not much to say, they were pretty much on......Pep was great, and more importantly, seemed like actually cared, which was different. He has to be that way every week.

the O line is doing well, both RB's are finding a groove as the games wear on, provided the O Line is getting some push. Jake and Steve made some more "holy s___!" type plays....

just a solid performance all the way around.

like i've been saying, can they stop the inconsistency and play at that kind of level more often.

as for the crowd, on TV it sounded good, and on the radio here in CLT, they've been commenting on it being as lively a crowd as they've seen in a couple of years.

undefeated at home will do that...now the fans feel like they have a stake in the game...no one wants to lose at home now.

but again.......just be consistent now.....put a couple of these together and go on a run.

The crowd was very loud. The Team also came out really fired up, which I'm sure had something to do with the beat down Tampa put on them last week.

Its worth the $$ to sit down low if you can get tix at face value. There were plenty of tix available in the upper deck, and its great there, but its a totally different experience down low.

I've been in both low and upper, usually upper. Lower is a great experience, a little more "sophisticated" when it comes to going to buy things, but the fans and the experience are about the same. Not really a bad seat anywhere.

Yesterday was my first time sitting down low and it was just really cool to be able to hear and see everything up close.I haven't sat that close to a field since I was a student at UT.

Your right about the seats though, not a bad one anywhere. I've sat in the end zone and on the side up top and never had a bad experience. The fans up top are probably louder and more fun, but I would still recommend sitting down low when you can.

I think the people up top are a little more funny as well. But of course the bottom is better when you can get tickets down there, but I'd rather just pay the cheap seats and get in!

Wow, I don't know what to say about that win. They stepped up when they needed to and were lucky to get that W.

Their inconsistency was proven with the way they played in the first half. Also, Jake proved why I am not on the Jake train today, his fumble was ridiculous...he escaped the sack once, did he really think he had a lot of time to hang on that ball to throw to someone, just get rid of it!!!

Thank goodness for a win going into a bye week. go panthers!

It wasn't looking very good in the 1st half, but they did step up and get the win.

The good news, Panther's are 6-2 and in 1st.

However,I'm sure we all realize they could easily be 4-4, so the playoffs are far from a lock.

I think they need to go at least 4-4 and beat TB to get in, which won't be easy with all the road games, but I believe they will get it done.

Go Panthers !
