The 2008 Carolina Panthers thread

What an awesome start to the season. First off I would like to say great win, I thought they were stupid for not calling a timeout around the 25-30 sec. mark, but luckily for them it worked out just right.

Couple of problems that I noticed that needed to be worked on:
1. Tackling, it seemed like there were quite a few times where we almost pulled off the sack and the defender flopped right infront of the qb. Defense played well for the most part though.
2. False start penalties or too many other stupid offensive formation penalties.
3. The biggest one: Red Zone offense. Last year that was a problem, just field goals after field goals, same thing today. Pound it in on 4th and 1! Come on.

Again great win, great start, now lets see if there can be wins at home.

GO PANTHERS!

Yeah I was yelling at my TV at that point. What's up with the offense when it gets to the red zone? Like you say that has been a prob this year and it really needs to be fixed. I only caught the very end of the game because it wasn't being broadcasted over here but we had a 4th and 1 in the red zone and didn't bother to go for it when we have to very talented RBs? Come on Fox.

I was too, I was yelling for a timeout, call the timeout! :birgits_giggle:

No, we actually went for it on a 4th and 1 on the 1 yard line, great call, but horrible play call, went for a throw instead of pounding it in. It is fortunate that Carolina has a great kicker, but 3's might not win us a game next time.

Great ending to that game! Fantastic, unbelievable! I thought that last pass was overthrown, but it was just...wow

It's nice to come out of the gate and not trip over the starting line and fall for once. Fantastic ending to a great game for both teams. My God, those Bolts fans are loud!

Bears at home will be just as big of a test. Let's see if our boys can run to the tune of 5 ypc again.

yeah it will be!

HUGE win for the Panthers. glad the clock management at the end didn't come back to bite them......

What an ending, I saw the final drive and thought JD screwed up the TO thing. It worked out though. WOW congrats.

Big, big win. Gotta have those home games.

2 comebacks, and the defense looks great.

I didn't get to watch the game since it wasn't broadcasted over here but talked to some other fans about it. Seems like the offense gets too conservative with a slight lead. 3rd and 15 and it's a draw play?? Ridiculous.

All in all im just happy that we are 2-0.

After how well the defense had played all day there was no reason to risk an int late. I'll take that concession and punt it away.

I think that was the first home opener they have won in a few years.

The defense did look really good and Stewart was a stud today. Gotta believe the offense will be better with Smith back next week.

I think the Panthers are gonna make some noise this year if they stay healthy

Surf, you are right it was I think they said 4-5 years since they have won a home opener. Good thing for the panthers. Great win!

Unfortunately though, the same comments as last week, great win to comeback and win, however too many stupid penalties yet again and need to get more than just field goals to put the game away for good.

I am impressed that Jake has learned to take a sack when it was clearly coming instead of getting careless with the ball and throwing an easy interception and/or fumble.

GO PANTHERS! :dance2:

It seemed like most of the penalties were false starts, which should be easy to correct and having Smith back should really help the offense.

GO PANTHERS!

well there were plenty of false starts last week too, so something needs to be done for those, get it under control.
