The 2024 MLB Draft - Discussion Thread

I really don’t want to jinx you but it seems like the most obvious pick UNLESS Yesavage is on the board at 12.

I think Yesavage is going to be there at 12, sadly. And if not, Cam Smith will be there and there has been a lot of discussion about him in Red Sox circles lately. And if neither are there, it means someone else highly ranked unexpectedly fell, and we’ll probably take him.

I would die of happiness if Moore became a Red Sox tonight, but it feels so unlikely.

I just don’t want us to take an arm in the first. That has almost never worked out for us.

On the 247 pod, McKee mentioned that Tanner Wiggins has recently picked up a lot of draft interest and is probably going to sign. Good news is, he has Abernathy and Clark as more likely to make it to campus and Seibert and Kuhns at 50/50 each. The 3 other SSs (Southisene, Snyder, and Marin) are more likely to sign.

So if those odds hold up and we split with Seibert/Kuhns, get Clark and Abernathy to campus, lose Marin, Snyder, Southisene, and Wiggins, then the rest of the class makes it in, I think we’re really happy.
He also thought Tanner Wiggins Juco pitcher would sign and thought Rataczak transfer from Niagara was 50/50.

Will Moore be a 2B and if not, what position do you all think he will play in pro baseball ?

Depends on who drafts him, honestly. And also depends on Moore. Red Sox have a clear need for a franchise 2B. For that, if he went there, I think they’d give him a legit shot to stick there. But if he doesn’t improve his defense in the minors, he’ll be shifted to OF.

If the Red Sox draft him, they are definitely moving him to SS...
Anyone else, I think he moves to the outfield.
