Commercial real estate vacancies as companies realize people can work from home.

Maybe less bank branches as people finally wake up to online, mobile deposits, smart ATMs

"Ghost kitchens" pop up in urban areas and people do more take out dining

Amazon grows even more

Physical college enrollment drops somewhat as people get used to idea of college online

Price of oil stays in a reasonable range

Post office adapts to become a bit more like Fedex/UPS

Vitamin D deficiency grows

Good: The economy will eventual reopen and every business that remains will have incredible deals.

Bad: Many will not have money to spend and the ones that do may be hesitant to spend even a dime.
We definitely meed to save more and get out of debt.

just like yours did after 911? Don't act like your party isn't chomping at the bit to add more layers of govt with this. They just created a half trillion dollar slush fund for corps and fought any oversight

And Democrats went right along with it and voted in favor. It was only on the nightly news they had concerns. Lol

I've seen a number of posts assuming more people will continue to work from home after this is over.

Their is a joke going around that goes like this..
A man is given 2 options during the coronavirus self sequestering.

Option A: He can stay at home with his wife and kids
He replies "I'll take Option B"

Also, domestic violence is up world wide during this pandemic.

I suspect working from home will not significantly change. Divorce rates may go up on the short term and or we may have a baby boom in about 9 months.

Our experience is the "family" is staying closer... More calls from daughters, sisters, nieces etc.

So what is everyone doing during this sequestered environment? My wife and I play duplicate bridge, so we've move that activity to online about 2 hours a day. Getting home projects done, wired in a 4 way switch for the chandelier in the master br. building a waterfall for the backyard pond, bringing the spinkler system back on for spring, transplanting a few things in the yard. Plus, general cleaning since the cleaning lady is sequestered. I'll be glad when she's back. Still paying her for the time she would have spent here. She needs it more, plus she'll work harder when she gets back. Working on our golf game in the back yard, mostly chipping and pitching.

My family and I have also been trying to get creative during this stay at home time for home projects. I recently ripped out an old deck and had it replaced with some really nice composite wood which is much more durable over time compared to traditional pressed lumber. Initially, I was going to haul it off but decided to remove all of the old nails and screws & cut it all up for firewood. Three days later and 8000 calories burned, the project is now done. I won’t need to purchase firewood for years.

So is child abuse. For many young children school was their safe place. Also the need for food for many children has grown exponentially.

When a python kills prey, it squeezes each time the prey exhales. So each breath is more restricted than the last. Eventually the animal suffocates because no air can get in. That’s what these situations make me think of. The government will squeeze just a bit more freedom out of our daily lives with the dual banners of “safety” and “ for the children/old people”. The power boners countless mayors have gotten from being able to stop their economies and close nearly everything will stay in their minds. I also think many will convert these “necessary measures” into political capital for reelection or higher office.

Social Distancing Administration will be formed. People will continue to foolishly believe in large government and actually desire it to control their lives more.
This is the scary part. It won't be necessarily a group of conspirators coming up with these changes. It will be the people begging for it.

You know, I've seen that claim thrown around over the last several weeks, similar to the claim that more domestic violence occurs on Super Bowl Sunday than any other time... of course that was later debunked.

I'm just wondering if anyone has fact checked that claim.

I know here in Chattanooga domestic violence calls are up 25% compared to last year, thefts and shots fired are up 50%.

Bad
* Forced vaccinations
* Stronger Federal government
* Cellphone surveillance on normal people spikes
* Collapse of commercial real estate with the possible increase in workers from home
Too late...

"Tennesseans must remain at home:" Gov. Lee issues new order to curb COVID-19

Lee said a company tracked cellphone data which appeared to show that traffic and movement was going towards an upward trend.

The governor said the data was part of the decision to issue the stay at home order.

Son in law says domestic violence calls are up.
You can see the 911 calls here, once the sun starts going down it’s a steady stream of domestics and disorders. In the morning it’s all vehicle thefts from people going outside and seeing their car has been pilfered.

Of course they did but they weren't claiming to be against big government were they? There is little discernable difference between the 2 parties

We disagree on alot but there is truth in your above post. But to say there are no difference in the parties is what libertarians say.
Are you saying there are no discernable differences in....
Abortion
Immigration
Foreign policy as a whole
Taxes
2nd amendment
?

Abortion is such a fringe issue. Yes, they are similar in action on the rest.

Fringe issue?
Abortion on demand is a must for Democrats
When did the parties agree on immigration reform?
When did the Democrats pass it advocate tax policy for all Americans not just those in the lower income end?
You are right the governor of Va was right in good assessment that there would be carnage at the Capitol building during the gun rights rally.

Swing and a miss on this one

Good: We'll have become much more proficient in getting certain things done without actually having to be there.

Bad: Skynet

What I saw was a headline from the World Health Org. Didn't read the article...

Good: Telecommuting becoming more of a thing for both work and education. Better for the environment and traffic.
Hopefully, we will be better prepared for the next outbreak of some virus. That isn't a knock on Trump, it is obvious we were unprepared on multiple levels of government, regardless of party affiliation.
Elbow bump.
Dolphins in Venice, Italy.

Bad: Even further government intrusion in privacy and personal liberties. All of this has a Patriot Act part 2 vibe, and it makes me very uncomfortable.
The DOJ's shenanigans trying to detain folks indefinitely without trial during pandemics.

yes abortion is a fringe issue for the base. When has the right truly sought immigration reform (hint: they won't)? Tax and spend, borrow and spend, etc . Repubs love giving the breaks for the upper tiers (those less damaged) too.No difference in the 2 they just use our money for pet projects. Trump had damaged gun rights more than the previous dem administration so maybe you're right there.

You're buying the sales pitch not the actions. You're what they want in a party member. Their goal is power, not your happiness
