The All Things Cycling Thread

30 miles at night... I don't know if it was the darkness or my lack of ambition, but I didn't even attempt to push my limits at all tonight and I had really good feeling legs.

I don't ride at night, but I think I ride slower at dusk because it seems like you're going faster than you really are, due to limited light.

My light was dying, so I was not going super fast and avoided many roads I usually take. I wish it'd cool down a bit.

No ride today. Swollen knee.

I went to a social event at a chiropractor's today. He noticed my limping and offered to take me down to his examination dungeon. He leveled out this rack-like device into a table and had me lay there while he poked and prodded.

He told me to describe the pain level on a scale from 1 (no pain) to 10 (most severe pain imaginable) and then jammed his fingers into various muscle groups. Or he would bend my joints beyond the range they normally moved.

Uh, yeah, that hurts.

In the end, he doesn't know what is causing the inflammation (no surprise there), but he says I have issues with muscle tension, scar tissue, and lymph system circulation.

He recommends self-massage with a "the Stick". Anyone have one? Is it worth it?

I did 11 miles tonight... Depression has been getting the better of me lately after I realized that I can finish no better/worse than 3rd in state championship again. I'm severely lacking any motivation.

I have a few friends that use it and like it. A good chiropractor can be worth it's weight in gold. Finding a good one is the trick.

I'm thinking he's probably a good one. Unfortunately, my underlying issue is not muscular/skeletal.

I drove my car for the first time since November. I rode my bike to get it, though. Goes down south to my mechanic this weekend. I would like a car to drive to and from trailheads and races, or to have a normal dating life again. Some reason most girls want to be chauffeured around.
