The All Things Cycling Thread

Won the bbeer relay mtb race yesterday. Ride out to the overlook, slam a beer, ride back and tag your partner. Won a gift certificate to my own store that I donated. Haha.

Eleven miles of singletrack today at a park I haven't ridden in a long time. Too windy for a road ride.

Could be the next Olympic event.

Should be. Ratings would be sky high. One of the guys showed up hammered. He was the first of his team out. Never showed up to tag his teammate. He was found still on the outlook deck drinking. He didn't realize it was a race.

First cyclocross race will be on Saturday. Got a friend that offered me up a loaner bike. Looks to be a good time.p

That's fantastic. Guess your injury has been doing better.

It's not an injury. In some ways I wish it was, for then it would heal.

An auto-immune type issue. Still haven't gotten it diagnosed. I'm taking prednisone to control the symptoms. I guess I should take more, because my knees are still swelling, but that stuff isn't good for you.

Sucks but at least you were able to ride a good bit last month. Hope they find a diagnosis for ya

So you're doping now?

Slim Road IDs are on sale (20% off) today and tomorrow, as well as their jerseys at 75% off. Good deal. If anyone wants to order one, I have free shipping codes to save an extra $1.49.

Top 10 in my first cyclocross race on a borrowed bike that's waaaaay too big for me. I want more! So I'm ordering a Surly Cross Check this week. CX has to be the most cardio-itensive thing I have ever done. On and off the gas for 30 minutes, sometimes jumping off the bike and over berriers. Super hilly course today, too. Never practiced mounting or dismounting and I stuck every one of them. Kind of proud of myself.

Thanks.

If I am, it's not working.

I should probably carry something like that. I have an ID in my saddlebag, but who knows if a paramedic would think to look there if there was an unfortunate incident.

I almost always have my license on me. Paramedics are trained to check all pockets and bags for ID, but RoadID or any other ID bracelet hasyour name and eemergency contact info in a place for quick access. I wear mine at all times.

Are they? Someone on the other site said otherwise. I have no idea what they actually do. Hopefully it will never be an issue.

Every EMT that I've spoken to has told me they are, but it never hurts to have one even more visible. Your ID, assuming it's a license, doesn't have emergency contact info or allergies listed, though.

Finally got the new toy. Now I just need this stupid head cold to go away so that I can really take it for a ride.

I know this makes me sound like the newb that I am, seeing I haven't really ridden a bike since my grade school days, but 27 speeds and disc brakes are pretty impressive. Climbed a hill that I was dreading with ease. Going back down was even more fun as I realized how responsive the brakes were.

Just wait until you get the itch to upgrade. Keep going up and everything starts to work even better.
