It's not going to match everything because there are orange accents on all of the parts but not on the frame. For example, the spoke nipples are all bright orange. It doesn't bother me, though. The new frame will be black and white so the orange doesn't really clash with anything.

Any advice for a beginner Tri Bike? Looking to do two of them in a couple of months.

unless you have cash you are looking to burn, id recommend getting aero bars for your road bike. Tri bikes are specialized and even the cheap ones are expensive.

If its a sprint tri you don't even really need aero bars unless you are ultra competitive.

All I have right now is a heavy mountian bike.

i wasnt sure what a tri bike was so i looked up them up. pretty mean looking bikes. to the casual observer, looks like a road bike with flat bars though. sure there are many other differences.

been sick, but still got in a ride yesterday. climbed one of my treacherous hills in 2nd gear, as opposed to 1st so im pretty happy.

They keep you in the most aero position possible. Great for going fast in a straight line. I've never ridden one but they are known for being a little less stable than road bkes because of the positioning. Its not recommended to ride one in a group unless you are very experienced.

Any specific brand you guys like? Just a starter bike, not worried too much about the money, but I don't want to buy a piece of crap either.

Go to a couple of local bike shops and ride different brands from beginner to expensive. That will help you see the differences. Almost all bikes use the same 3 or 4 companies for the components. it really comes down to feel and how well the bike frame fits you.

These are great deals right now: '10 Focus Variado and '10 Focus Variado Expert if either are stocked in your size. The expert is an exceptionally good deal with a full 105 gruppo for only $900. Focus is a good bike company and has a team sponsored on the ProTour.

A lot of the aluminum frames are all made in the same factories in China or Taiwan. Same goes with carbon fiber, except more CF frames are made local to the company, comparatively. So they'll all be about the same build quality. I know Felt's full line of CF frames are made in the USA, and only Trek's top-level Madone is made in the USA still. Cervelo is made in Canada. Even most of the high end Italian manufacturers outsource to Taiwan now.

Component-wise, you'll probably end up with something with Shimano components but SRAM and Campagnolo have stuff out there, too.

Shimano goes DI2 > Dura-Ace > Ultegra > 105 > Tiagra > Sora > 2300.

SRAM goes Red > Force > Apex... I think.

Campy I don't know much about.

Thanks, this part helped a lot.

Imo I would try to get at least 105 components if you can afford it

Talked to a kid today at the local bike shop for a Scott bike he said he could upgrade the components but wouldn't price It?

Edit: from sora componants

Price depends on what they'd upgrade to and whether they'll credit you for the Sora components for the shop to keep them or if you'll have to pay full price for the upgraded components. Going from Sora to Tiagra wouldn't be too bad, but Sora to 105 would be a nice chunk of change, like $600+ at full price. The flight deck shifters themselves on 105 are $300/pair.

Pic dump! Sorry for the size, I can't remember how to resize on Imgur. There's a trick to the url...

Damage to the Z6 frame that got me the Zc

Zc with back tire, handlebars, seat, Z6 fork, and crank on. 90% finished.

Next week I'll have the matching Zc fork on it. My LBS didn't have a carbon fiber fork cutter blade so he had to order that tonight and it'll be in on Friday.

I cannot wait to get up in the morning and take it out for it's maiden ride. I gotta say, it's effing purdy, especially with the orange accents everywhere.
