The All Things Cycling Thread

Can't wait to get back on my bike tomorrow been almost a year due to company I worked for being sold and me being lazy.

Why do cyclist ride on the narrow dangerous roads??? Death wish I think

Because that's where they belong. Seriously. Read state laws on it. Pretty safe if drivers pay attention. However, there are people on bikes that are idiots. Young kids acting cool or DUI recipients that don't know the rules. You can usually spot them from a mile away

Cyclists are taking their lives in their own hands by poor choices of selextibg certain roads

Typically riding against normal traffic.

No, not really. I've been riding on the busy city streets and narrow backroads for 8 years now and never had a serious incident with a car. I use common sense and follow all traffic rules.

The only problems I've had have been with rednecks in their jacked up trucks that think they own the road.

Against traffic, no lights at night, not signalling, cutting across lanes, riding on sidewalk and road interchangeably, and just being unpredictable in general.

I roll my eyes whenever I see it. I don't ride my road bike around town a huge amount (mainly ride on the Natchez Trace), but people like that give all cyclists a bad rep.

Kind of. People just need to distinguish between a cyclist and someone that's forced to use a bike as their transportation. I use mine as my sole transportation, but not by court order or because of bad life decisions - just a personal decision. Proper education of the public would go a long way.

Dropped my bike off at the shop for a tune up. My five year old comes out explaining why he needs a fat tire bike

Also true

So I was riding home last night from a Frisbee golf tournament after party and some douche nugget threw a full bottle of soda at me from his car window and hit me in the face.

And cyclists are the ones putting their lives at risk by riding on the roads... Jesus.

I wish I could have gotten their plate number, I have a few officer friends that would like to play detective and that owe me a favor or two.

All I said was cyclists tend to go overboard in their gear and tend to ride on dangerous roads... It's just an observation...

It's incorrect. I'd suggest riding a bike before making such observations or judging someone based on their hobbies.

Sorry...You can't change what I see.. Middle Aged guys dressed for the Tour de France riding on narrow curvy roads holding up traffic..

Lol try riding a road bike with a baggy T-shirt and shirts then say the gear is overboard. Or is it the helmet and mirror that bother you? I guess people shouldn't try and prevent traumatic brain injuries. Maybe you think mirrors are overboard on cars too.
