The All Things Cycling Thread

just finished another 30 miles. Hit 45 mph. My hands are now 10 shades lighter than my arms. stupid bike gloves. Im going to try a ride without them and see how it goes.

I started riding without gloves. I'm gonna need new bar tape soon, though. This stock Felt bar tape just doesn't cut it. LizardSkins is where it's at.

And thanks dude. I love my carbon mistress.

Got a rash where my bib straps went over my shoulder from the ride yesterday. All broken out and stuff. Nowhere else but my shoulders/chest. Looks like two straps of tiny zits. Ugh. I scrubbed hard in the shower when I got home, too.

got a couple hours of saddle time in yesterday. tried to ride out to an old abandoned mountain bike park, but didnt make it. will have to set aside more time to do that.

Nice! My top speed since I added a tracker is 34mph and that was on the paved trail. I think I can do slightly better on the road Sat. I have a slight difference in my hands and my arms but 2 long weekends down at the lake, working in the garden, and some outside running has helped.

Like Tri said, Ebay is okay if you just watch out. There's a lot of cheap, good frames on right now. Most road cyclists take impeccable care of their equipment. My friend just bought a Cannondale CAAD5 off of Ebay last night for $660.

Just for your ocular pleasure, here's a photo I took when I turned around yesterday:

Nice bike. I peeked around on craigslist yeaterday. Problem is, I'm not educated enough to know what is a great deal or not. It'll be late fall/winter before I really look into upgrading anyway.

Roadbikereview.com is good source of info.

If you find something you like, I might be able to help ya also.

a good site that I have been using while looking for a new bike is Sheldon Brown's Bicycle Glossary-A . Has answers to all questions I have had with regards to components and general bike guidance. Hope it helps.

I rode just over 6 miles throughout the neighborhood yesterday. coasted down the hills and pushed hard on the climbs.

One of my friends rode 120 miles yesterday... Guess I'm gonna have to do more work next week.

He actually passed away a few years ago so any new information is written by the staff at Harris Cyclery, the shop he ran. I have learned a lot from that website.

So... the LBS owner has asked me to find another road bike company to carry their 2012 line of road bikes. We're already picking up Salsa for 2012. Also, Standard Byke Co. is entering the road and 29'er market and we're probably going to be the only storefront dealer. They're made locally here and are pretty big in the BMX racing scene.

Lynskey Ti Bikes (Made in Chattanooga) $$$$
Bianchi $$.5
Masi $.5

He wants me to look into becoming a Spooky Bikes dealer, too, but they only sell via website.

Lynskey is pretty much out of the picture because they're most definitely a specific market. It would be nice to be able to say, "Yeah, we can get you this sweet TITANIUM bike that is HAND BUILT IN MY BIRTHPLACE!"

He's also looking to become the number one professional bike fit guy in the Midwest which will bring people from all over. He's been talking about hiring me on full-time after the 1st of the year, too. Six more months of my current job... I think I can handle it knowing I'll be walking into a job with good pay and awesome benefits.

Gonna be a Look bikes dealer.

I ripped off a 44 mile ride tonight with a local pro racer and the two regulars that I ride with. I felt freaking amazing. Except for the hills... those wasted me. But it felt great to lead a train at 26 mph.

Saw a guy with a white ridley dean. I would love to have one of those.

Very nice.

Last night we rolled a Scott Addict, Giant TCR, KHS Flite Team, and my Felt ZC.

The guy riding the Giant broke one of his Time carbon pedals and flatted in less than 10 seconds. Brutal.

question about road biking gear. is there any gear out there that while may no be much for aerodynamics, looks the bill and isnt skin tight as the lycra gear? im not a fat dude, by any means, by i would not look good in skin tight gear.
