The All Things Cycling Thread

Just finished my first ride in a long time today and it felt great! Taking it on the trails this weekend, so pumped!

27 miles for me this am, felt great to get back out....however, I don't recommend riding after getting your eyes dilated by the doctor!

Set up my rental car to go to Madison this weekend. Gonna sleep in my car on Saturday night in Madison, then probably drive down to Chicago the next morning and get certified on the new Chicago Velodrome.

Have a fun and safe weekend VOLatile.

This show is pretty awesome. Madison is pretty awesome, too. So much bike infrastructure here! Met a company from Chattanooga call Cysco Bikes. They utilize twisted steel and Ti tubing for their top and down tubes. I'm seriously considering selling my Felt and going steel. Seriously.

Always wondered how different steel would be from my carbon fiber bike.would like to have both

Ride quality is comparable. Higher weight, price point can be lower. Steel frame on a carbon fork is what I'd rock. Can make steel stiffer for quicker acceleration.

Edit: Just pulled into a random industrial park to sleep for the night. Madison has some great beer, too.

Yep... Effective immediately my Felt is for sale and I'm going to buy a Cysco. Going steel or stainless steel.

Anyone want pics from this weekend?

Some pics of Cysco Cycles. The pictures don't do them justice, at all. Really cool bikes.

The sales rep is a HUGE Vols fan, too! Gonna talk to the LBS owner tomorrow and see about dealing in them, so I can employee purchase one. :) And also talk to him about either selling my frame or the entire bike, probably sooner than planned. Or I could just wait until next year's tax return and I'll be able to get a complete with more goodies (I purposefully pre-load my taxes so I get a bigger return, kinda like a loan).

Sweet bikes.

I didn't ride this weekend but my 2 yr old son rode his first bit of singletrack

Those are awesome volatile.

I believe I'm going to purchase a 29er this weekend, either a Felt, Cannondale or Scott at my local bike shop.

You going with a hardtail or full suspension?

Hardtail. I just don't have the type of cash required for a softtail. When I graduate from college and get a real job then it might be a possibility. :)

10 of 15 miles on the way home from work were in a torrential downpour. Could barely see the pavement on the Pinellas trail. Actually was pretty enjoyable once I got used to being soaked.

66 miles of rolling hills. My quads are on fire. Another friend wants me to ride 50 tomorrow. Yikes.

Bought my new 29er on Saturday, a Cannondale Trail SL 4. Couldn't pass up the components and weight for the price. Here's the exact bike and color...

Like the color. What component group does it have?

rode in Townsend on Old Wallen Hwy. Saturday morning before the game. Simply awesome. If youre coming into town for a game bring your bike and ride here. 20 miles out and back next to the river. Beautiful scenery and almost no traffic. Saw probably less than 10 cars and 50+ cyclists.

The Foothills Parkway is there too. I'm going to hit that next time.

It's got the Shimano Alivio groupset with hydraulic disc brakes, which are all huge upgrades over my last bike. Taking her out for the first real ride today, I'm pretty pumped.

Bleeding hydraulic disc brakes = :banghead2:

But the performance is awesome.
