The All Things Cycling Thread

No love for my Neyland Stadium picture?

Didn't see it on mobile. Looks pretty sweet. I'd love to get a photo inside Neyland.

Paid today...
Decision time: suspension fork, mtn bike shoes + pedals, FSA SL-K road brakes, or road shoes? Each will cost roughly $200, road brakes being the cheapest option. Brakes are approx $100 my cost, plus I could probably sell my old ones to a guy that's building a bike at the shop right now.

Cold rain, go away. Wouldn't mind if it was warm rain. Dumped buckets on us today and my next race is a week away. It'll be a sloppy mess again, I'm sure.

Sooner or later I could use some new shoes. Back brake pads are worn. I think my bottom bracket is about done. My wheel still rattles. #old

Saw some cyclists on the Internets did #30daysofcycling in April.

That's a long time without a day off. Plus, they must live where the weather doesn't get so bad, because we had some crummy wet days in April.

I did #21daysofcycling.

Nice.

The weather has been complete **** since Thursday. I'm just itching to get back out. Got some test rides in today, if that counts.

Ordered a Rockshox Recon Silver Air TK yesterday. I may not be racing on Sunday now, haven't heard from my teammate lately whether he still plans on going. If it's incredibly sloppy, I may not even want to race. I should probably get some wet weather tires just in case, though.

In a stretch of several nice days here. Mid- to upper-80s.

There's like 8 inches of water standing in the parking lot across the street from the shop. It's depressing. At least we're able to catch up on repairs a little bit now. Weather forecast shows storms through Monday. Temps will be okay to ride wet today, tomorrow, and Friday, though.

Getting stronger every ride. Wet, short ride today.

I'm thinking about building a 24" cruiser BMX bike to race at the local track. Lol.

BMX racing looks fun, plus I could build one bad ass BMX bike for hardly nothing. I think I'll just focus on my touring/city bike for now, though... After I upgrade what I want on my mountain and road bikes. I keep going back and forth on what parts I want to use for my t/c bike. Looking for rimbands and hubs right now. Maybe I should find a steel frame to make a completely separate touring bike... Like a Surly Long Haul Trucker or a Co-Motion Pangea... A Pangea, or similar 29er touring bike, would be bad ass.

Haha, I think I am going to hold on to it. Had the day registration opened marked on my calendar for months. I will finish, it's just how long it's going to take me...

Isn't that a ride where you have to ride a bus back off the mountain?

Yeah it's a hundred miler where the last 30 are straight up hill to the top of the mountain. They make riders take the bus because they say it would be too dangerous to decend after the ride. So it's all the work up the hill but not the fun coming down.

Two or three years ago some people I know on another forum had issues with waiting for the bus or something. I'd rather ride back down.

You Reserve tickets and what not so it seems pretty organized. My bro did it last year and had no problems, but he did finish insanely fast. I would rather ride down but with the incredibly tired bodies i thinkk they deem that a safety hazard.

I'd guess it has more to do with the number of riders/traffic than a concern about fatigue. There's a long descent at the end of the Cherohala Challenge, and I've not heard of anyone crashing because they were tired.

Indeed, a lot factors play into it I feel like. I wish you could, but I feel like ending it at the top makes the whole event a lot easier logistically.

If I ride 30 miles up the side of a mountain, I expect to descend. That's my reward for doing it...

I have a massive headache. Missed the severe t-storm by a mere 10 minutes tonight. Lightning was a huge motivator for us.
