The Andrew Wiggins Sweepstakes

UK and FSU - those are the two schools that it seems he would have already pulled the trigger for if indeed he were headed to either, but I'm not Wiggins, so I can't possibly understand his decision process. In the end, it probably ends up being one of those two regardless.

It's most puzzling. Either he just can't make up his mind, or he's taking us all for a ride.

Wiggins probably knows where he'll end up going. But wants to make sure he knows exactly how everything from last year and how teams are looking before he commits. With the UNC players leaving/staying, he should go there imo. But the influence his parents have might be playing a big factor. I feel UK is out b/c of players staying and other recruits.

UK may be out but I don't think Wiggins cares about competing with other recruits - he is going to start if he played for the Bobcats...

I think, to the extent he cares about other recruits it is for his personal/professional development.

dude aint fighting for PT

Agreed, but I dont think Cal has a history of managing egos. I understand he has had success at a high level, but I only remember two of his loaded squads being a good "team" (2012 & 2011). That includes all those rediculous teams he had at Memphis.

With the 5* players that are returning and adding this recruiting class, he is going to have some unhappy players due to lack of playing time. Interesting to see how this all plays out. Can't blame him for taking top players, but only 5 can play at one time.

With the depth and athleticism Cal will have next year, he can, and should, have UK pressing the entire forty minutes. If he does that, players will not be complaining about playing time.

haha! Yeah, we might just have to start one next bball season. I'll look forward to your insights on UNC.

I hope you do. Actually, I am capable of being able to look at UNC with an opened mind. However, the new football Uni's are terrible. Sorry. And James Michael Michael continues to lose $$$$.

Poor JMM. Roy continues to lie to kids and hold them back. Blah, blah, blah. Kid was in a no win situation a year ago. Leaves college early and goes top 10, and doesn't produce, then is considered a bust. Can he not develop in college, and come out when NBA ready? Only recent guy I thought should have left was Harrison, but he came back with a loaded squad. Looks like he is doing fine for himself. Can you predict the future and say JMM doesn't like, get better this year? K has had more 5 star players stay, and more top 20 players graduate than Roy (or anyone else) since he came back.

He will likely just rotate them in by shifts like Pitino did in '96. Wiggins or not, it's gonna get real ugly.

For the most part, I'm like that with Duke, as much as I hate you guys. JMM may or may not have hurt his draft stock this year, or the last; we'll see what he does next season though. The thing a lot of people often overlook with JMM, however, is that (unlike a lot of other kids hoping to play in the pros) his family is fairly well-off, from what I understand. Both his father and mother played professionally in Europe I think, so it's not like he's potentially pressured to exit college early and earn the big bucks, like, say a Reggie Bullock (poverty and kid). With that being said, I wouldn't at all be surprised to see JMM either leave next year or stay his entire four. Could be another T. Zeller or Hansbrough (father was a surgeon I think) situation.

I didn't say anything that wasn't true. JMM would've been the 2nd UNC player drafted behind Barnes last year and most likely a lottery pick. And do you really want to get into a discussion about developing UNC players for the NBA? This is Roy who is coach now, not Dean. Oh and Greg Paulus was a 5 star and so was Kelly so please stop. It's about draft potential.

Speaking of Dean, UNC has survived post the best coach in their history. Will Dook?

I dont see anybody from Carolina that stayed, that is hurting because of it.

It'll be uglier for UNC than it will be for UF.

To his point, indeed it may very well. SEC bball has always been a joke. Only Florida has been a consistent competitor to Kentucky, but that's only been the last decade or so. I'm sure somebody can dig up something from 20 to 40 years ago about how another SEC team had a good run, but let's be honest with ourselves: there's no point in debating. Now the ACC gets to add Notre Dame, Lville, Cuse, and Pitt. Meanwhile, UK will run up their all-time win total, just like they always have.

I'm going for the former. :)

Well, as much as I hate Kentucky and its tradition (I'll spare you the reasons why), I'll wish you the best of luck next year. You're a nice poster. I could see things going either way for you all: could be an amazing team or it could be one that falls flat on its face and becomes an embarrassment. I'm looking forward to Dec. 14 (I think it is) in Chapel Hill! I've always enjoyed the UNC v. UK game. I liked it better though when it fell on SEC football championship day. Always my favorite day in sports. Looks like it might be a week later now.

Good question. I don't have my crystal ball handy so I can't tell you what will happen. I think a lot depends on how successful Chris Collins is at Northwestern, and also if Dawkins can get it going at Stanford. I don't think it's any mistake that both coaches took jobs at private schools similar to Duke. If neither are successful, I guess you look at Brad Stevens. Whoever it is, I don't envy their position. Nobody ever wants to replace a legend. K could do it like Dean did with Guthridge and give Wojo a stacked squad for an interim season and then hopefully Duke doesn't make a complete mess of things with a Doherty kind of hire. Coach K has created a Duke brand that I believe will go on after K leaves. Honestly, UNC helps the Duke brand as well because the rivalry is so great.

Truth. The collection of coaches in the ACC will be unreal. K, Roy, Pitino, Boeheim. That's 3 with multiple National Titles and another who probably should have multiple titles.
