How am I being a homer? You are in the minority if you think he is not one of the top 5 players of all time.
And to be fair, he isn't in the same role. He has to come back to get the ball so much when playing for Argentina. Javier Mascherano and Cambiasso aren't the great midfielders at supplying the attackers.
Just watched the match and feel a lot better. I think Bayern played well in the second half. I will say Marcelo should have been given a red for that "tackle".
Meh. I didn't think it was that bad. Not that it mattered though. In stoppage time. He might start next game though. Coentrao was HORRIBLE. Mourinho's Portuguese bias.
Here's my take.
ZZ controlled the midfield and controlled games like no one I've ever seen before. He did it for club and country. Those French teams in his era were absolute beasts.
Right now, I'd take Ronaldo at his peek over Messi but that might change is a few years if Argentina can put everything together. On a side note, has any country wasted more talent than they have the last decade?
The gap between Messi and CR is minimal. CR is a lot more well rounded but Messi is better in the box. I think CR's personality hurts him more than people want to admit but he's scored about the same amount of goals per game the last few years.
Awesome, let's all start using one game as an example of an entire career.
That's not what I'm saying. I'm talking about taking more into consideration than just goal tally to compare them. Ronaldo really has very little impact in most big games. It's been proven time and time again. In terms of actual impact in games for Real Madrid, I would take Xabi Alonso, Ozil, Casillas and Pepe over CR.
Hmmm.....actual impact.....you mean like goals? I see what you're trying to say but the guys a winger of course Alonso is going to have more "impact" he's a midfielder. Goals aren't everything but you can't dismiss them when they don't fit your argument. Messi is better, bu it's like 55-45 not 80-20 like some people are claiming.
Drogba is still a killer. May not have been his best goal, and he may be old, but anytime he is on the field for Chelsea, I still believe he is their most dangerous threat, closely followed by lamps old ass. (notwithstanding David Luiz taking out a centre half and the keeper in one swoop).
Excited to see how this second half plays out, expecting some Messi highlights... But we will see.
