The Atlanta Braves (thread 1)

On paper, one wouldn't think that lineup could beat a playoff caliber team, let alone by a fairly comfortable 3-run margin.

Once Prado is back, and assuming nobody else goes on the DL, what would your starting lineup be?

Here's mine:

1B or 2B - Infante
1B or 2B - Prado
3B - Chipper (so frustrating, but we need him)
RF - Heyward
C - McCann
LF - Diaz
CF - Cabrera
SS - Gonzalez
P - Hudson, Jurrjens, Hanson, Lowe

I just think we need Omar's bat in the lineup every day, and if it means trying him at first, or moving Prado to first, then do it.

Prado 2B
Infante CF
Heyward RF
McCann C
Chipper 3B
Gonzalez SS
Freeman 1B
Idiot of the day LF
Pitcher

I can be a stathead sometimes, but i don't need to look at fielding stats to know that Escobar made one head-up-his-ass play a week. I watch the games.

Gonzalez has been a huge upgrade over what they were getting at the shortstop position at the time of the trade.

Does not covering second base when you don't have anything else to do qualify as a "head-up-his-ass" type of a play?

Sure it does. In fact, I seem to remember Escobar making those exact same sorts of plays often enough that he got yanked occasionally. Gonzalez hasn't been great in the field, as expected, but I will certainly take what he's been giving the Braves with the bat over the .230-no-power-hitting clubhouse cancer that was Escobar.

Despite the disappointing result last night, I thought Minor looked very solid. He was blooped to death in the 3rd, but you can't really do anything about that. 5:1 K:BB ratio looks good. He was aggressive in the zone with the fastball, especially early in the counts.

He's well on his way to proving the draft-day doubters wrong, and it looks like he has a great chance to develop into a solid #2.

I was hoping the Braves pulled it out last night for Mikie Minor. A good number of people I know here in Martin went to Forrest High School with him and say he's a good guy all around

Boy that was a tough thing to see. Of all the cheap little injuries he has had the last few years I believe this one could be the real deal. Sure looked like he was in some acl , pcl pain there God I hope not. He has been very hot of late like I haven't seen in years slugging wise. Hope the best for him. On a side note JJ sure is dealing.
