The Atlanta Braves (thread 1)

Alex Gonzalez has been a complete and utter disappointment defensively to this team so far.

Yeah, that was indefensible. But Infante deserves an assist. Despite what Joe Simpson is saying, that ball went right by his glove, and Infante didn't exactly extend himself to try to catch it.

McCann appeared to simply drop the throw on the first run. Ball looked like it was right there.

And now a crappy play by Glaus. Man.

They just showed a good replay, and now instead of just thinking that Infante deserving an assist, I think they did well by giving him the error. The ball ticked off the end of his glove and he didn't even have his arm all the way extended.

It wasn't a great throw, but you've got to be willing to move your arm and glove around a little bit to try to catch it.

Funny how this game works.

Conrad comes in, had two balls hit to him the moment he enters.
Then hits the go-ahead hr. The ball will find you.

Man that Brooksie has hit some *@+* clutch homeruns and boy am I glad to see Glaus get one. Maybe that will get him going and on a fast ball to which he has been late on for two months. He is showing signs of heating up.

Talk about a complete reversal of fortune. That was about as good as it gets. And I don't know if the radar gun in Houston is acting up, but I think they clocked Wagner at 100 mph on that last pitch.

From the immortal DOB:

"Braves' Chipper Jones said he felt a "distinct pop" in the knee, but he and trainers are confident it's not ACL (he blew out ACL in 1994)."

Dude misses four games when a finger hurts, so I can't imagine how long he'd be out for a "distinct pop" in the knee, even if it's not his ACL. Let's hope that wasn't the end of his career.

My thoughts exactly.

Plus, his body should've been moving toward first (the direction of Gonzalez' throw) to build momentum for turning the double play.

After seeing Omar make some questionable decisions at 2B, I like your lineup with Omar in CF and Prado at 2B.

Wow. . . They've got Chipper's Dad on the radio with don Sutton and he basically just said that Chipper broke down after the game last night because he was afraid it might be all over.

I'm not the biggest Chipper fan, but that was tough to listen to a guy talking about his son like that.

When I saw him on the ground first thing I thought was 'it's over'. I sure would like to see him play again this year, especially if he can keep the bat going.

very tough.

If true, who do we put at 3B? Surely Brooks Conrad can't be the answer, right?

if this lineup wins today, I'm not sure if that will say more about the depth of the Braves or the shortcomings of the Astros.
