Ok this is ridiculous. We can't handle a simple rundown but Infante and Gonzalez can pull that off? That is frustrating, this team can look so terrible on one play and great on the next. Gotta tighten up guys.

The only real pitching problem continues to be Wagner. How many blown saves is that since the all-star break now?

His problem is still that he's not striking out enough guys. Five Astros up; all five put the ball in play against him. Wagner can't live like that.

yet his ERA is still solid.

I'm starting to wonder a little about his workload. Although his previous outing he was blowing people away. The Braves just haven't been winning big lately. Today was his 7th appearance in 10 days.

It's going to be interesting to see what they do with Venters next year.

i don't know enough about his background.

start to groom him as a closer? or try to turn him into a starter? or, just leave him as one of the best set-up men in the game?

He was a starter all the way up until this year. I'd have a hard time letting an arm like that work in middle relief.

vtorix mentioned something about him doing much better in 1-inning situations than multiple inning outings. think he could get back to throwing 6+ innings?

That could be true. His numbers in the minors as a starter were pretty ordinary.

Venters will be our closer or 8th inning guy to Craig Kimbrel. Either way, they will be the 8th/9th duo for years to come. And for cheap.
