That's pretty much the pace they've been on since May 1st. Offensively the Phillies are a LOT better, but the Braves pitching has been phenomenal.Utley will be back this week with Victorino and Howard to follow. The Braves better be ready to win about 2 of every 3 from here on in to take the division.
Yep. And just because he's been hot for two weeks doesn't mean that the last year and a half didn't happen. The odds are way against him going through a long rehab and then coming back and having what he thinks of as a Chipper Jones-type season. I would sure hate to see his career end like that, but I'd also hate to see him rehab it all winter, hit .220 for awhile next year, and then get hurt again and have to retire.
I mean, realistically, what was the chance going to be that Chipper's career wouldn't end with an injury?
He actually hit over .300 in the 41 games leading up to the injury.
Whatever. He hit three HR and four doubles in the eight days prior to the injury; he only hit two HR and three doubles in the whole month of July. He had just started driving the ball consistently for the first time in two years when he got hurt. But don't let that stop you from being pedantic about it.
The Braves don't have one guy "banged up" that is as good as Howard or Utley.
What are you talking about? I was just pointing out that he started hitting much farther out than the 2 weeks you posted. Unreal...
