I missed Minor's debut the other night, but I can't imagine him pitching much better than tonight.

they got a couple of doubles towards the end like the nationals did tonight, but other then that he pitched pretty good. tho the defense let him down with the costly errors

I'm glad Omar is capable at leading off. I'm loving Prado lower in the lineup, he'll get way more RBI opportunities. He could put up some really good numbers the rest of the way.

Glaus has had a few hits lately, but man he has wet the bed the last 2 nights in big RBI situations.

yeah he hasnt been clutch at all lately, and the only reason theyre not bringing up freeman is because they already have to many left-handed bats

That is precisely what is happening. There's just no way to take Glaus out of the lineup and there's nowhere else to play Freeman.

If the offensive core of this team for the next five years is going to be Heyward, McCann, and Freeman, as I think we all assume it is, then the one absolute imperative for Wren is to do whatever it takes to add a long-term, power-hitting righthanded bat to break those lefthanded bats up. You can't go L-L-L at 3, 4, and 5 without it biting in you in the arse.

Braves beat Nats 10-2 on 8/17/10! Let's go for the sweep! I know it's only the first of 3 games but so what! The Nats gave the Braves problems the last time they played.

I love it! It's perfect.

What a great game back for Prado!

Solid outing by Minor. Coming from the last spot in our rotation, it's definitely solid.

Can we platoon Hinske and Glaus at 1B?

Also, it's good to see Ankiel on a 4 game hit streak! He really needs to keep it going.

fyp. I also think we're underselling Infante's hitting skills.

That said, you're right - a power-hitting RHB is vital. we've got two OF positions where we could put that player, right?

"According to David Kaplan of CSNChicago.com, the Braves are close to acquiring Derrek Lee.
Kaplan calls the deal "nearly done." Lee reserves the right to veto any trade -- and reportedly nixed a deal to the Angels last month -- but sources tell Kaplan that he will be willing to waive his no-trade clause because the Braves are in first place in the National League East. The Braves are hurting after the loss of Chipper Jones, but we're not sure Lee is a significant upgrade over Troy Glaus at this point. It could certainly happen, but we'll believe it when we see it. Would Glaus play third if this happens? Interesting.

Oh good grief! Is Glaus even capable of playing 3B at this point??

He could not have worse range than Chipper, probably about the same.

It would give Bobby a right handed power hitter to play with. Lee would be a free agent next season.

I personally do not think it provides you much of an upgrade.

The infield might be: 1B: Lee 2B: Prado 3B: Glaus SS: Gonzalez. That would leave Infante as the odd man coming off the bench.

I would not do it. But oh well.

Platoon at first giving both older players some days off. Infante needs to stay in the lineup as long as he's producing.

espn.com now saying that it's close to finalized. If Lee is healthy, I like it. We need his bat and his glove. Glaus would be the odd man out, not infante. I can't imagine glaus having the range to play 3rd, and I can't imagine taking a .340 hitter out of the lineup.

Yeah, it matters how his back is. I'd say it will happen and the trade will be Lee for "Player to be named later"

The way i took it is that Lee would platoon for Glaus. Glaus doesnt have the arm or legs to play 3rd anymore. I personally like the move, Lee is a leader in the club house, smthing that might be missing now that Chipper is out. Plus it gives Glaus time to rest and perhaps able to get back to his form in May and early June.

Platoon how? They both hit right handed and Lee is a big upgrade over Glaus on D. If you guys do get Lee then Glaus doesn't play.
