The Atlanta Braves Thread

Makes he happy on so many levels. I have said before that I lived in Iowa for a while and despite having no team in the state I was blacked out from 5 different teams. 5.
If this happens with the Braves and I can get them with an MLB Sub. I won't have anything really left to bitch about with YTTV.

Banks leaving would be a big blow. He’s a good DC. And not a ton of dudes will be knocking down the door to run the defense
That's the part people don't get. Being a DC on a team with our style of offense is like being in charge of nutrition at the Huddle House. You just have to do the best you can and understand that the goal is different.

They finished 29th in points per playing given up and 31st in yards per play given up without one back 7 dude that is an NFL player in the SEC. That’s a good DC
How much slower did our offense play this season? How much did RG and Ek's units conver up defincies on the backend? Banks coaches safties which is the worst unit on the team for the 3rd straight season, and what difference maker has he recruiting? Werent you just talking about how we havent recrutied a 5* DB in forever, its a good thing theyre knocking on the door to play for Banks, oh wait.

If we had been even close to average converting 3rd downs on offense and stayed on the field a little against decent opponents, the narrative on this defense would be a little different.

He’s not perfect but I saw way more personnel issue than scheme issue. Other than 1st half Florida and 2nd half Missouri, I didn’t see anything made me say “What is Banks doing”? I don’t know anything about recruiting other than I don’t follow it and that is the HC’s responsibility. Either way, he’s good. Losing him is a blow

Funny how many people want Derek Mason…his defense last year finished 92nd in yards per play at Okie State and 46th in 2021 at Auburn

I don't think anybody can explain away what happened against Florida. Never should have happened. By the time we played Mizzou though, we were a disaster at LB and DB. It's a miracle that it was 13-7 at the half.

Every time somebody brings up a coaching candidate who is currently doing TV, they should ask themselves "Why are they doing TV?"

There's nothing more ridiculous than when message board guy starts evaluating assistant coaches.

Thats a hilarious statement, A DB literally didnt chose us because hes afraid his position coach is getting fired. Players spend way more time with their position coaches then they do with the HC. Recruiting is about relationships, and theyre first built with the position coach then the head coach.

You didnt see scheme issues, so you enjoy rushing 3 on 3rd and 8 to give up 12? You enjoy dropping 8 and hoping to make a tackle? These arent slaw B10 offenses you have to attack them into making a mistake, Banks doesnt do that.

No coach is perfect. Heupel is an offensive genius and knows more about football in his pinky than I’ll never know. He still makes bad calls. This idea he “doesn’t attack” is nonsense, we are always high on sack rate. And we constantly defend the run well except in 1.5 games this year

Again, we had a top 30 defense this year and we are constantly on the field. He’s the DC. If we aren’t recruiting well enough on defense, Heupel needs to reevaluate that. DC’s normally don’t get hired for recruiting. I don’t disagree we can upgrade at DB coach. But thinking Banks is easily replaceable is just “miserable of the legion” stuff

Its not, not even close. Watch teams this weekend, watch playoff games. You will never see those teams sending less than 4, and you constantly see those teams green dogging to send a 5th or 6.

We control the run game because of RG, the DT's eat up blocks well because hes an Elite coach.

Or maybe it’s because what talent we do have in defense is up front.
