Fair enough. I was privy to some inside info that steered me wrong. I generally trust my sources, but the coaches were way too confident that they were going to land Scroggins and I was only echoing their confidence. They missed. I missed. It happens.Sab, I appreciate what you bring to the table, I really do. You are right and know more about recruiting than most, but like everyone else, you're not infallible.
Recall from the JS thread:

I understand that you re-thought and re-stated your position between those comments and JS' ultimate announcement, but it's pretty hard to ignore how adamantly you felt you were right in originally making these comments. Only to be proven wrong, and quite glaringly so, I might add.
It would seem fair to give other people the same breaks we give you, on those rare occasssions when you're found to be wrong. You know best how to act / treat others, but that's my $.02
Barring you know that this "big fish" doesn't exist (I hope that you do, so that we can move on), where's the harm in speculating as to who it might be?
I've made no secret of my love for Scroggins. I just don't see getting him away from the Left Coast.
If this is true, this is either Newton or Hendrix. I would be shocked if it were Sims. The main reason behind this is that before he ever committed, we never pursued him and didnt even offer.

I will also point you to this post that I made back in MARCH where I said we wouldn't get Scroggins. I should have stuck with my gut, but one tends to believe the coaches when they say they're going to land a guy and that's exactly the information that I was relayed.

I really don't get why you even bring this up in this thread though. I'm not sure what one has to do with the other.
The whole deal in the interview was that the transfer would have to sit out a year. Neither one of those guys would have to sit out a year when they come.
Do we honestly believe that we are entertaining a transfer? There isn't anyone I know of that has already been granted a release that we could be after. I'm sure the coaches learned from the Robert Marve mishap and wouldn't be tampering with players considering a transfer, much less be talking about in public.
I don't disagree there at all. Thing is, I think it's someone that they can actively recruit. What if they have turned Heaps?? That would be a big fish that hasn't really been out in the open very much recently. That's just a guess, BTW.
Dont forget but I believe Heaps is a Mormon which means he will be taking a mission trip soon during his college career. Does UT want a QB that will miss a year, or a QB that can be there for 4 straight years to help the program. Nothing against Mormons, but missing a year at one program might be fine but UT needs a QB they can develop and play for 3 to 4 years. I could be wrong they might get him and he might go on his trip next year while Lamison plays, but miss some development.
