The "Big Fish" Quarterback Rumor

You guys are all wrong. I just heard from a credible source that our "big fish" is actually Bradley Stephens from Ooltewah HS '12. Kiffin was a little hesitant to sign him because of some "character issues" from the past, but after speaking to Jac Smith, he decided to sign him to play. This kid is our future, the next coming of Peyton!

It says "X" will teach us the importance of Sept. 1st. I'm guessing that this is going to be a 2011 commit. Could be Johnson, LeMay or Overbey.

He said be careful about the rumors swirling about 5 star recruits or transfers, but I didn't gather from that that he knew who was the subject of these rumors. I was thinking he was trying to pour cold water on the rumors...

How did you reach that conclusion/assumption just based on that? What keeps them from committing right now as opposed to Sept 1st?

I guess he means who can offer with a written letter. That is the first day that upcomming JR's can be offered. A lot of times the first offer stands out the most

I tend to agree with that one. He seems to cover 3 topics. One, Bray is a 2nd tier candidate. Two, beware the rumors of a big 5* recruit or transfer. Three, the date September 1st is an important one, and he'll tell us why.

While they could be related, it doesn't seem to me that Sept. 1st has that much to do with the big fish rumors. I assume that Sept 1st is an important date for some other reason in the recruiting world. (Never mind...answered while I was writing this...that's the first date that our staff will be on the same page as all other programs - the first day we can offer 2011, just as early as everyone else instead of behind the curve).

It sounds like X is trying to quiet the rumors. I was actually excited when I saw the first post about his blog, because if he says a big guy is coming, I believe it. But, he said exactly the opposite, IMO.

My guess is that X will be reviewing who our chief targets in 2011 will be and how that relates to the Sept 1st offer date....doubt it is actually related to getting a big recruit since he has already said beware those rumors.

Besides, those kids could technically commit now, no...don't we already have some 'commitments' from the 2011 class?

This makes the rumor more interesting. When Basilio talks about X, it usually has legs. Apparently there is something going on after all. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

"X" already posted a blog on 7/20 about our QB targets and verbal offers that's why I believe there is a little more behind this. We'll know tomorrow.

Fair enough, but I think that he'll focus on being in early on these guys, etc., etc. If there was a commit coming, I think that it would be worded differently than 'the importance of Sept. 1st.' To me, it's a significant date, because it's the first day that our staff will be officially on par and not playing catch-up with other programs.

Did he review all major targets - or just QBs?
