Thats not completely true.... They just wanted the kid in school.

Yes, but once it was obvious that he was definitely going to school and the scholarship offers started pouring in, there wasn't much doubt where he was going to end up.

That doesn't at all diminish the original act of taking him in and raising him as one of their own, which ultimately is all that really matters.

At the end of the day, the kid was going to Mississippi. The family exposed him to the recruiting process, but there was never a question where he would end up.

riiiiggghhhttttt

I find it interesting that no one questions the intentions of the family. It is a bit interesting that an influential family fosters a kid through high school and he ends up at their beloved alma mater. Coincidence, possibly. I'm just curious as to why they haven't used their fostering skills and resources to help out other kids that may not be as athletically gifted.

Where have you been? LOTS of people have questioned their motivations.

Well the family that took him in is the Tuohy's. Sean played point guard at Ole Miss in the 80's I think. It only made sense to go to Ole Miss if this is an Ole Miss family.
Bottom line is they done good by him and in turn he done good. He is a pretty good lineman after all.

And yes Fulmer does look rather large....

Do they actually use Briarcrest? If so...That's incredible.

I believe that most of the movie was filmed at a school in Atlanta. They wanted to use Briarcrest in the movie, but the school actually declined for fear of negative press.

He is right. Ask pretty much anyone in Memphis with knowledge of the situation that is not tied to Briarcrest and you will find a person who questions it. Oher is not the only kid wither. Greg Hardy got plenty of "help" from this family and subsequently went to Ole Miss as well.

His coach try to package a deal with TN, so that he could come along with Oher if he went to TN, although he ended up at Ole Miss with Oher instead.

I live in Memphis. I was actually asking about a reliable national source - not the Commercial Appeal or the parents at CBHS.

CBHS would have jumped on it in a damn heartbeat. McCarver would have found a way to get in, too.

i'd argue their motives were questioned quite a bit and in the book they did say they were thinking of helping other athletically gifted kids. the obvious question if they did this out of the goodness of their heart why do the kids have to be athletically gifted?

I apologize if this has already been discussed here or if no one cares....but has anyone seen the theatrical trailer for The Blind Side? I saw Fulmer in the previews. It also looks like a decent movie about football. Comes out Nov. 20. Here's the trailer The Blind Side - In Theaters November 20 . I'm not sure how much acting he actually does in the movie. Mods feel free to delete if this has already been discussed.

I just threw up a little thinking about the great pumpkin on the big screen. I would not see the movie if they paid me a $100 because of the grimace being in it.

He's wearing a UT hat in the scene that I saw. Even if the movie does suck.....it's more publicity. Especially if some upcoming recruits see this movie :dunno:

Why would Fulmer appear in the movie version of a book that portrayed him as a redneck snakeoil-salesman? I really don't get it. It's not like he needs the money.

The way I understand it is that he, Urban Meyer, and a couple of other coaches play themselves trying to recruit the kid.

Yeah, basically all of the SEC coaches play themselves (5 years ago).

I'll go see the movie, mainly because my brother in law went to Briercrest in Memphis and knew Michael Oher.
