Why would Fulmer appear in the movie version of a book that portrayed him as a redneck snakeoil-salesman? I really don't get it. It's not like he needs the money.

seeking relevance at any opportunity. In hindsight, he was a redneck snakeoil-salesman. It will take several spring cleanings to wash away his influence.

I will go see it and hope Phil makes some money on it. He gave us the our only football National championship in my life time and he is a good guy.

Fulmer is likely in it because it is a good story that goes beyond football and he IS a good man. He had been slipping as a football coach and recruiter for the last decade, but he is a good man. This just shows one of his many recent recruiting losses.

I don't get how these fat jokes are still popular. If you didn't like the man as a coach in his past few years, make a joke about his coaching style. Even then, he's gone now, so get over it.
The bottom line is that he used to be a good football coach, and he won us a national championship. More than any of that, he's a man who truly loves the University of Tennessee. I once SAW him pull his car over on campus (it was right in front of Humes Hall), just to pick up a piece of trash.
I agree that it was time for a new coaching regime, but sticking with the fat jokes are just ridiculous. Also, they come across as lazy. Come up with a new joke!
As for the movie, I think it will be a good one. It looks like it could be the kind of feel-good football movie that Remember the Titans was, and I loved that one.

So Fulmer is in the new movie "The Blind Side" coming out later this month. I posted a link for the trailer, and he comes up at about 2:08. I think it's pretty funny he is wearing Tennessee gear. They must have filmed the movie when he was still coaching, but this actually looks like a pretty good movie.

I have a reliable source that tells me Rod Wilks is in the movie. It's already been put in to motion for him to receive an Academy Award.

Fulmer filmed his scenes after his dismissal.

There are several coaches that play themselves, but wearing the colors of the schools they were with at the time. Coach O shows up in red and blue, Saban's in it in purple and gold. Lou Holtz is in it wearing USCe gear, although I'm not sure anyone has told him he doesn't still coach there.

Its absolutely hilarious that he is wearing the colors of the school he is an alumnus of, and dedicated some 35 years of his life to.

^insert sarcasm footnote for those who can't sense it.

They dont use Briarcrest in the movie...they use a made up high school and i think they do use black. not 100% sure though. But its def not briarcrest in the movie.
