The Blind Side movie (merged)

They dont use Briarcrest in the movie...they use a made up high school and i think they do use black. not 100% sure though. But its def not briarcrest in the movie.

It was filmed in Atlanta at the International School in Buckhead (or at least parts of it were filmed there)... I know this because my friends live in the house across the street and they were actually extras in it.

I'm reading this book right now (thanks CBC) and recommend it to absolutely anyone even remotely interested in football. (or for that matter, not) Only about a quarter of the way through it and it is riveting. There's one part about Fulmer purposely missing his flight after speaking to the Memphis QB club and running across a parking lot to watch Oher practice on the recommendation of an assistant coach. "I heard I have to see this to believe it." I think he said.

Orgeron has a large role in this story and in this film as well. I can't wait to see how he does playing himself.

Fulmer filmed his scenes after his dismissal.

There are several coaches that play themselves, but wearing the colors of the schools they were with at the time. Coach O shows up in red and blue, Saban's in it in purple and gold. Lou Holtz is in it wearing USCe gear, although I'm not sure anyone has told him he doesn't still coach there.

didnt you know Lou Holtz still coaches at Notre dame.

So do we have to have a thread started about this every time there is an advertisement for the movie on TV?!?

Several things I noticed in the trailer.

Of course hollywood will glam it up a little bit, but I have already seen at least 5 things in those 2 trailers that were inaccurate from the real story.

If you have seen the Tuohy's, you would know that Bullock and McGraw are a little stretch of the imagination. Maybe just the opposite for the daughter.

Someone mentioned that Oher was just another player Fulmer let get away. You should probably realize that Mr. Tuohy was a former Basketball player at Ole Miss and is still today a prominent Ole Miss booster. He was always going there, just as Greg Hardy was delivered to the Rebels.

Correct on everything. The daughter in real life is very attractive.

Just found out that my mother-in-law was friends with the lady from this story (not Sandra Bullock, but the real woman). Apparently they were in a high school sorority together in Memphis.

Personally I'm boycotting this movie and think everyone else should as well. I went to high school at the same time as Oher at a school a few miles down the road. I knew a lot of the same people as he did that went to his high school and those of them that have read the book tell me if not a complete fabrication, it is filled with half-truths. The teachers often helped him by cheating on tests and he is completely glorified in this movie. Personally, I think that alone makes this movie a complete waste and I won't be sending my money to someone spreading a lie.

I realize that it isn't Briarcrest in the movie, I was just saying what it's based on. And view the trailer again, they are wearing green.

I don't know that "cheating" is the right word. Oher did end up doing alot of online classes to get his grades up, and it's not suprising that they portray Oher as a saint. The movie wouldn't have much of an impact if he were an unlikeable character. I am curious if the movie includes the part where Oher's high school coach ends up with a job at Ole Miss after Oher is recruited there.

Most movies like this are somewhat fabricated. Did you watch "Remember the Titans"? A whole lot of that was fabricated too, the Titan football team wasn't the only non-segregated team around, they made that part up.

Someone mentioned the daughter, and yes she is quite the looker. Homecoming queen, etc.

Also on the team in remember the titans, there were really only 3 white starters and less than 10 white players.

Really good movie. I saw it tonight, and really think that any SEC football fan will enjoy it.
The coaches get a lot more screen-time than I thought they would. CPF had a decent sized role, and Tennessee is discussed quite a bit in the movie.
My wife cried, though. Look out for that guys.

I will have to rent this movie one day, mainly two reasons i don't want to see it at the theaters. 1) Im just not in the mood for sappy movies right now 2) I don't want to have to deal with the Twilight crowd right now.

That is exactly why I went to West Town to see it. I went on Fandango specifically to find the theater that had this movie, but was NOT showing Twilight.
It isn't really all that sappy. My wife is just 24 weeks pregnant, and extremely emotional (I never said that).
Then again, it is extremely expensive to go to a movie and get popcorn now.

Watched it with a Kentucky crowd. Sandra Bullock's character despises Tennessee and nearly every time that was mentioned, the entire theater erupted in applause. It was very funny to me.
