The team has sought out non-english speaking players because of what they can do on the baseball field. They hire interpreters so that those same talents can communicate with players, coaches and the media and then he basically mocks them. It is an a$$hole move.
Seattle Mariners CEO has been canceled:
Mariners president/CEO resigns after comments
He wants his players to speak English
No he actually got fired for being an idiot. Good luck when the renegotiation for that TV deal comes up when your team president is on video saying how they’re getting a better deal than they deserve. And I’m sure that his GM loves that he said the quiet part out loud when he said they purposely manipulated service time clocks on prospects to create an unfair bargaining position for the club.
His stupid bs about Spanish speaking players is moronic because his club scouts in Spanish speaking countries. If you don’t want your players speaking Spanish, then stop scouting in Spanish speaking countries. That’s def an option if Seattle wants to finish dead last in the MLB every single season.
So let’s recap: Team president torpedos future tv deal, admits to negotiating contract in bad faith, and doesn’t think players from Spanish speaking countries should speak Spanish because America. But go ahead and blame this firing on “cancel culture.”
