The cancel culture is getting out of control

Seattle Mariners CEO has been canceled:

Mariners president/CEO resigns after comments

He wants his players to speak English

The team has sought out non-english speaking players because of what they can do on the baseball field. They hire interpreters so that those same talents can communicate with players, coaches and the media and then he basically mocks them. It is an a$$hole move.

When as a society did we become so damn mentally weak that other people holding a different opinion hurts feelings. We have lost our ability to agree to disagree and it's sad.

When children started to be raised by women alone with no male involvement. This began with feminism and women deciding they didn’t need men (the biggest lie ever invented). That’s the root cause of the problem.

You say this, and inevitably someone will come call you a name, but in the animal kingdom there have been studies on both elephants and various types of primates that show that when they go through their formative "teenage"-type years without strong male intervention and leadership they violate their own 'societal' (for lack of a better way to put it) rules.

I am conversational but rusty since I haven't been since 2019 and there are not really many Japanese people around here.

That is cool. My wife and I have some Japanese friends we have known for years. It is enjoyable to learn some words and phrases from them when we get to visit. I lived in Thailand years ago and make return trips whenever I have the opportunity. Learned a lot about Thai language and how to use tones in different dialects. Luckily, I get to converse with my wife, so I don’t get too rusty.

My wife is from Peru so the other issue I am having is that my Japanese is getting pushed out by Spanish- so I'll accidentally respond to someone speaking Japanese in Spanish, which goes just great.

I don’t care what names people call me. It only proves my point. They will attack me with emotions, instead of addressing the points I raise. The fact is, children need both a father and a mother working together. You need a mother in the beginning for nurturing. But like you alluded to, in the teenage years, the father teaches his son how to be a man and teaches his daughters how to attract a man of substance. Men are, by nature, logical creatures. We will not stay in a traditional institution like marriage where we are forced to serve our traditional role and the female no longer has to. Not only that, men are destroyed in divorce court and women receive preferential treatment for being the mom. It is illogical to enter into such an agreement. That’s why marriage is a disaster in America and that’s why many of our children are now as well. Men, at the end of the day, really only want one thing from women. And now women will give it away easily. So from the man’s perspective: why marry? This has disastrous consequences for society.

When I played club baseball in my study abroad period in Japan I had to speak f***ing Japanese to play, anyone else can nut up and learn English if they want to play here.

My son did that while in HS - he was very disappointed initially when he found out he was going to Hokkaido. In the end he even wound up doing some teaching in cram school ... and we sent him Dr Pepper care packages.

He was on the total opposite end of the country, I was in Nagasaki. We were lucky enough to know someone on the Sasebo Navy base an hour and a half away, so we got in to the PX and commissary for our American stuff.

I have a great job now but secured an interview for JET on a whim application...I'd love to take a year-long sabbatical from work to go over and teach English purely to improve my Japanese skills to fluency.

EDIT: But of course my parents did send me nice care packages of stuff, too.

I really like Japan. My dad was assigned there twice - once when we were moved out of Korea (1948) which I don't remember obviously; his second tour there was as an advisor so we didn't get to go. I spent most of two years bouncing between Tokyo, Hiroshima, and Tsuruga and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was also stationed on Okinawa for almost two years and really liked it there - there was a lot of difference between Okinawa and Japan though. If I could go back and stay, Okinawa would be my choice, but it's changed a lot since the reversion to Japan. Being able to get familiar stuff in exchanges and commissaries makes it a lot better! My biggest regret is that I didn't have the time to absorb the history and language - I had to manage in Tsuruga though - not much English there.

Kids expelled, dad fired over mom's online videos :: WRAL.com

Crystal Jackson, who calls herself "Mrs. Poindexter" online, was selling the videos on a commercial website and making up to $150,000 a month. Then word got out to a local Catholic school attended by her sons.

Jackson's children have been kicked out of the school along with two other kids and their dad, Richard Levin, the school's athletic director, because of his connection to the sexual online videos.

$150k/month?

"I have quite a few new fans, especially because some of the moms found out, and they weren't too happy," she said, referencing the views she gets from dads.

It seems these dads are in a sticky situation!
