Do you want Bruce Pearl to be Head Coach at UT next season?

I didn't know about this. I was in the "everybody lies, give him one more chance crowd" until I heard about him committing a violation after the apology. Now, I think he needs to go.

I was also in that crowd, and like you I think he needs to be shown the door. Man up Hammy!

I think we have cast our lot with Pearl. He is now obligated to coach at UT for 25 years.

Hamilton can't fire Pearl without walking out the door behind him. It's that simple.

Just my two cents.

Please explain....

In the LOA, on page 11, the NCAA alleges Pearl committed a violation by seeing a prospect at his high school...four days after the press conference announcing the penalties.

If Bruce truly cared about the program, he wouldn't have tried to lie to protect his image, put himself first thinking he could get away with anything, and then commit a violation four days later after promising he would behave. Bruce only cares about Bruce.

Ding! Ding!

But the penalty had not gone into affect yet, right?

Is it a fact that he committed a violation after the press conference, or just somebody making an inference? I think there's no sense in firing him RIGHT now and if we were going to it should have all ready happened

Yes. He spat in the university's face if this violation is true. This has basically been a lost season anyways, so it wouldn't have matter who would have coach.

Lost season? Last night's win sealed the tourney bid for us. I think he should be fired at the end of the season, which puts the university in the best possible position to salvage the basketball program.

Firing Pearl before the season in September would have created several lost seasons.

That would be horrible for your name and avy...Right now I am more worried about salvaging our season. If he11 freezes over and CBP takes us back to Elite 8 or beyond. I wonder how is image would change? He lied everyone does but I will wait till the sanctions to reserve my judgment. I am more upset about our offense and crazy lineups. we all knew this crap was coming and besides the after fact of Pearl's contact nothing is new.

Arizona. Hire an interm coach, saying he is auditioning for the job, and start your search after the season is over.

And what are we going to do in the Tourney? A first round loss.

Someone who didn't lie to the NCAA after piling up violations would be a good enough start.

I agree he should be fired but realistically what coach would jump ship from another school one and half months before the season would begin?

Don't say promote Tony Jones because he committed that same violation with Pearl.

One thing that doesn't occur to people is that this is a university of higher learning. It serves a much higher purpose than just to win a few ballgames. This whole mess with the cheating and sanctions and NCAA is only hurting the university's image. I'd much rather lose more games and do it cleanly, than win a championship by cheating and hurting this university's image. Because, in the end that's all sports are, a game, just entertainment and nothing more. Championships are fine and dandy but, really do they make your life better? Do they give the students a brighter future just because the sports teams are good? Bruce Pearl caused a negative light to be shone on the university, it's not worth the negative publicity just to win a few more games. Besides, whose to say the next guy won't be better, Pearl's not the end all be all of UT basketball. /rant

The weepy press conference was on Sept 10.

Allegation 3 in today's notice cites Pearl and Tony Jones for illegal contact with a recruit on Sept 14.
