The cumulative Pearl thread

Do you want Bruce Pearl to be Head Coach at UT next season?

I wanted to see a poll on this. I think the people who want Bruce Pearl to be replaced at the end of the season are a small minority on this board.

Small minority or not, I don't. A suspension is too much trouble for a guy that can't recruit a PG anyway, wants to press and is replaceable for his salary.

What I do want is that "Summer's Eve" Hamilton NOT do to the basketball program what he's done to the football and baseball programs. If ... IF ... the decision is to replace Pearl, there MUST be a plan in place with a replacement secured, interviewed, and ready to announce before any action on Pearl is taken. You just don't go off and react. You must plan to act. "Summer's Eve" couldn't pass management 101 and should be the first to go anyway.

I votes "yes," because I'm an optimist and I'd like to see the guy figure out a way to redeem himself and make amends for his wrongs. Will this happen? I think it would be borderline miraculous.

So far the people who want Bruce gone are a small 50 % minority.

Yes, I'm surprised. He's the first decent coach the BB program has had in 20 years. O'Neill was ok but soon left. Green couldn't recruit.

bruce lied but didn't play ineligible players. that's gotta be worth something right? right??

Got to love the fact that Tressel didn't even apologize once. Winning above everything else is the route OSU is taking and Tressel hasn't even won the big game in the last eight years(Ark. and Mich don't count).

I'm not sure...voted yes, but this poll should have been created later. Or have an "undecided" option.

By later you mean after we go before the NCAA infractions committee?

The choice will be made very shortly after that meeting. I hope Hamilton is gone with him for the record.

Decision should already have been made. Pearl should be leaving at the conclusion of the season. Waiting around to the summer will have catastrophic consequences.

I think it's easier for a coach to learn the NCAA rules then to learn how to coach and recruit. I think Pearl won't make these mistakes again if stays at UT. :twocents:

Pretty sure he's the first one getting paid like Roy Williams, too. That may have something to do with it.

He already knew the rules. He admitted he knew that the barbecue was against the rules. He knew the "bump" rule. It didn't stop him. This wasn't a case of just negligence in knowing the rules; it's a case of an unethical coach knowingly violating them.

I'd say there are plenty of 2 million dollar coaches who already know how to coach and recruit better than BP does.

To those that want him gone:

Is it because of this incident or have you grown tired of him or have you always not wanted him?
