The disney insanity continues

I'm willing to take the risk that Nissan will do better than John's Transmission.

Is John’s doing poorly if they aren’t doing what Nissan is doing?

If the concept is good, let it run.

Again, if this is great, open the concept up to anyone in Florida. Buy land, create your own little sustainable kingdom.

If not, then take it away from Disney.

See my edit.

edit 2 @allvol123 Now that I think about it, my edit was snarky, but you can't incentive every corporation to move to your state. You have to legitimately assume it's going to be profitable for the state. I've dealt with people that handle projects like this and there is a significant amount of study, examination, and calculation that goes into this. If I decided to pick up stakes and move my little business to another state, I'd be moving for the heck of it, I'm not planning on expanding. If I hired more people it would only be a few. There is absolutely no benefit in incentivizing my move.

I'll let tnvolnavy answer that in his own words. Call it Exhibit A.

Can you see the homophobia and hate? That's what DeSantis is knowingly playing on.

Simple. Anti-groomers have the majority. Vote to squash the groomers. Democracy in action baby!

I think it will neither benefit nor harm Florida.

Disney isn’t moving. Disney will likely pay more taxes and the same services that were performed previously by Reed, will now be performed by the county at a more expensive and less efficient rate.
How will they pay more taxes? What type of taxes?

The same way they paid taxes to Reedy Creek. Except now, they likely won’t be as beneficial to Disney.
No they will no longer pay the $105 million to Reedy. That becomes the burden of the tax payers. So again, what additional taxes will Disney pay?

Colorado Dem gov slams DeSantis for ‘socialist attacks’ on Disney, GOP gov hits back at ‘baseless allegations’

FIRST ON FOX: Democratic Colorado Gov. Jared Polis and Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis traded words over the latter’s push for legislation targeting Disney.

Polis criticized Florida in a Tuesday tweet over his support of the state legislation stripping Disney of its special self-governance powers and for DeSantis saying he was looking into legislation regarding Twitter’s poison pill to Elon Musk’s offer.

"Hey [Disney] we’re ready for Mountain Disneyland and [Twitter] we’re ready for Twitter HQ2, whoever your owners are," the Democrat governor continued.

Well, progress is inevitable. The energy expended in resistance by some is one of the variables.
Progress isn't always for the good. Especially when you're standing two feet from the edge of a cliff. You don't move forward just to say you're moving forward. Sometimes you need to stop and think about the direction you're going in and reassess if that's the direction you really want to go in. That's where people like you fail, because you're so intent on going "forward" that you don't mind jumping off that cliff.

Sometimes, the best progress is in regress.

Have they been paying a sales tax to Orange County? Hotel taxes? Property taxes to Orange County?

Every time Disney wants to put up a new building, renovate something, etc. Permits will now be required. I am confident the local county government can figure out a way collect taxes from their newest arrival.

Do you really think Disney isn't going to have the local government in there back pocket? Honest question here. What happens if Reedy Creek decided to sell all its assets to Disney for $1 and voted to make it happen. Then let the billion in bonds and no assets transfer to Orange County. Then Disney, now having gained access to all the assets, turns around and offers to Orange County to assist with the governmental services at a high rate. Note, I don't known if it's feasible, but I'm sure a 200 billion entity isn't going to lie down and has a ton of attorneys figuring this out. I think the legislature and DeSantis messed up here and before Summer of 2023 this will all blow over and go back to what it is today.
