The disney insanity continues

Sometimes people think they're moving in the right direction only to find out they were wrong. And some people have a very hard time admitting they were wrong.
And some people deny that the movement is in the correct direction and fight it in every way possible, but once the desired destination is reached and is obviously the correct place to be, the ones who fought so hard against it deny they ever did.
They have a very hard time admitting they were so firmly planted on the wrong side of history.

100% agree. I hate seeing how billionaire owners get tax credits and other incentives to build new stadiums. Illitch here in MI got a new baseball park and hockey arena. Not the exact same but those millions could've helped a ton of small businesses but those small businesses don't have the name brand recognition. Yet.

I see Nashville just passed a resolution to build a new stadium for the Titans. Just rolled my eyes.

You tell me? Not sure what the draw would have been to that region of swamp if Disney had not built there.

Is that what DeSantis has planned? I'm sure it's something he's reviewed in depth and will help the citizens Iin his state and isn't any type of retaliation or political stunt. That's why he's worked on this complex economic issue for years, correct?

Draining the swamp is a sunk cost. My point is that when the tax paid by Disney for that 40 square miles is cited, it needs to be in the proper context. If they leave the tax revenue certainly isn’t going to zero.

For the record, I don't think that corporations should be treated like people. But if the precedent is set, it would seem that legally speaking - what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Ordinarily going after Disney would bother me but this is stripping a company of a special benefit that other companies don't have the luxury. If you are going to enter the realm of politicking against local government then expect some pushback that at least makes you follow the same rules as all the other companies. This is not the Mickey Mouse club Disney we all remember growing up.

Disney is not going anywhere. It would be catastrophic for their business. You may as well close the doors for good.

I’m not saying that they’re leaving. I’m saying that that taxes generated figure can’t be compared to zero. If they aren’t there, 40 square miles of houses and businesses might actually generate a higher number.

I assume Disney is hoping they can wait on DeSantis. Disney might win this fight eventually but definitely God will eventually destroy USA over it like He did ancient Israel. Thing is homosexuality is just a tiny part of our problems. Greed, Divorce, Children out of wedlock, crime, hate, violence, cheating, scandals, etc. USA has been a sinking ship from a moral standpoint since probably the 1950s or earlier.

How long until the Bible is hate speech according to LGBT community? The following scriptures definitely fits that bill in their world:

24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

In the instance of public schools, we're literally discussing the diktats of state forcing illiberal gender/sex ideology (and CRT tenets) upon children..

Looks like retreating to the bailey again. I have no interest in debating you on the bailey. We’re in agreement that discussion of ideology in public schools should be controlled by the majority. That’s why I called it a failed regime. That’s why I said “parental rights” about 100 times in this thread. “They did it first” is not a defense, and, in my opinion, every school should teach that.

This looks like a very long post and I’m going to need some assurances that the whole thing isn’t just a defense of the bailey before I dive in.

55 years later, if Disney wasn't there, it might still just be swamp. Not directed at you specifically, but it is funny how Disney has been developing the area for 55 years and people act like it would be exactly the same if they had not been there. I have only ever been to Orlando area to go to Disney World and I am sure there is a good chunk of the population that is the same. You can't just assume someone else would have done something with that area if Disney World had not started there and drove the amount of growth that it did.

You could have saved a lot of words by just saying, "Ordinarily this would bother me, but its the Republicans doing it against the opposition."

THEN WHY ARE YOU SO AGAINST THE LAW STOPPING IT!?
Stopping it? I've been in education for decades and have never once witnessed it or heard first or second hand of it happening.
The law is nothing but right wing crack meant to ensure the continued mindless addiction.

Geez don't remind us. I can't finish my bagel now.

It might could still be a swamp. But that’s not the discussion. It’s about their tax arrangement going forward. 55 years ago Disney management wasn’t pushing a sexually woke agenda at children.
