So it's no big deal to rescind the agreement then, is it?
Don't the local governments have the ability to tax Disney once this agreement ends? If it cost the local governments more money to supply Disney with police, fire, etc then Disney can pay a tax to support those services. This should be a zero sum game if Disney doesn't save any taxes and don't need to pay for the overhead of services. The people making up the increased costs probably think it will be

I can definitely see where you have a problem admitting you're wrong. And some people deny that the movement is in the correct direction and fight it in every way possible, but once the desired destination is reached and is obviously the correct place to be, the ones who fought so hard against it deny they ever did.
They have a very hard time admitting they were so firmly planted on the wrong side of history.
So, let's just get the facts straight. DeSantis passed legislation, or the Florida legislature, whose members were elected by the citizens of Florida, passed the legislation?
They already pay property taxes and ON TOP OF THAT they fund their own municipality.Pay all what taxes? They need to pay whatever it takes to offer the services they need for their own property.
Actually, they should if the county was competent enough to manage it.Giving Disney a special taxing district isn’t an incentive? No problem then. Disney should be fine with it going away.
The sign.... When...... You.... Have...... Literally....... Nothing......
All I can say is, if any county politician allows Disney to walk away from all of their services with the expectation of those services being free, I'm shutting down their services. No water, no sewer, no electricity, no pothole repair, no roads being repaved. Disney aren't going to walk away from their multi billion dollar theme parks. Somehow Universal Studios makes it work, Lego Land makes it work etc. You're just raising a stink about a nonexistent problem. They already pay property taxes and ON TOP OF THAT they fund their own municipality.
They currently pay full Orange county property taxes and ask for no services in return. This bill will have Orange county providing Disney's services at no cost to Disney. Disney will continue paying their current property taxes and will stop spending to provide their own water, power, sewage, police, fire, roads, etc.
Actually, they should if the county was competent enough to manage it.
If Orange county could manage the municipal district in the same fashion it's been run, Disney would save appx $100 million per year and transfer $1billion in debt to the tax payers in Orange County.
Disney has been suspiciously quiet in the matter so far.
Orange county has already said they want no part of it and estimate they'll need to raise property taxes 20%
It'll cost more because currently Disney doesn't have all the local politicians getting a kickback for every little improvement project. Disney does have a sweet deal, but if FLA is smart, they will find a way to bow out of this stupid change.Don't the local governments have the ability to tax Disney once this agreement ends? Maybe because red states are sick and tired of woke politics condemning everything that happens in a red state, whether justified or not.It should never get that far. The government shouldn't be in the business of punishing those that speak out against it. I don't know why this is such a foreign concept.
