A fact Disney knows lol
Look, if anyone wants to go, by all means, go. But you hit the nail on the head that one can't "pay" enough for the experience. Yeah, you really can, to be honest. Because as long as Disney knows you'll fork over the cash, they'll keep raising prices. And it's not just the theme parks. SSC and I were looking at cruises and even looked at the Disney ones. Probably double what a Carnival or Royal Caribbean is. You're paying for the "experience" and quite the elevated price.
I'm not fond of the continual rising of prices because of a "once in a lifetime" experience.
Just saw a news piece.."Disney to remove all mentions of traditional gender roles"
"So we no longer say 'ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls,'" said Ware in the video. "We've provided trainings for all of our our cast members and in relationship to that so now they know it's, 'hello everyone' or 'hello friends.'"
She said that Disney is in the process of changing the recorded messages at its parks. The phrase "dreamers of all ages" has replaced "ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls" for announcements at the fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom in Florida, she said.
OkMaybe read the article instead of just going by the headline? All they're doing is scrapping the whole "Ladies and Gentleman, boys and girls" bit from Theme Parks. It's not the end of the world or even that extreme:
TBH, I actually like the idea of "welcome, dreamers of all ages." That sounds great for an amusement park like Disney World and goes along with the dream and imagination themes they already use a lot. To be frank, it's good branding (memorable and specific to the company) and Disney is one of the best at that.
Apparently, what they're doing isn't even unique. It's a trend in business right now to switch to neutral language (at least for businesses that rely heavily on interacting with the general public like those in the travel and tourism industries). Businesses want to welcome as many customers as possible and while I personally think you're very likely insane if you're offended by the old phrases (and to be fair I doubt anyone actually complained, changes like these almost always happen when someone on the inside decides to do it or because they're throwing out a bone after a misstep) I don't see anything wrong with the new welcome.

Yeah this might push us away from Disney. We love going, but I’m not supporting something like this. We are DVC members, but we may end up selling our membership. Not only can the costumed characters and greeters no longer say things like"hellow boys and girls" or "ladies and gentlemen" but one of their main executives held a news conference today stating that going forward, their goal would be to have 50% of their costumed characters either gay or transgendered. I believe this will come back to bite them bigly in lost park revenue over time. Thank God my son is grown and I never have to plan a vacation or visit a Disney owned park any more. Walt is probably rolling over in his grave or wherever his body is. I hope they go broke and have to close them all.
BRB… gonna go sell the $8 in Disney stock I ownNot only can the costumed characters and greeters no longer say things like"hellow boys and girls" or "ladies and gentlemen" but one of their main executives held a news conference today stating that going forward, their goal would be to have 50% of their costumed characters either gay or transgendered. Lots of latent homophobia hiding in this thread. That's a comment, not a criticism.
I have a nephew that is gay. He didn't choose to be gay. You can argue he chose to act on his urges, but he was always attracted to men. So to say homosexuality is a choice is to say heterosexuality is also a choice. It's a pointless argument to have.
He's my nephew, and he's a good kid, and I love him no matter what. He should absolutely live his life to be happy, no matter who he offends by just being himself.
I'm not sure what corporations like Disney are supposed to do to satisfy everyone. It seems no matter what, someone is always going to be offended. Inclusivity of one group always seems to come at the expense of another group feeling excluded. People need to find ways to worry about themselves and their own, and let other people worry about themselves and their own. You don't have to agree with everyone's lifestyle choice, but maybe you do need to learn it's their choice to make. You also don't need to hate and disparage others simply because they're different.
Live your own life. Find your own happiness. Life is too short to fill it with anger and hate. Laugh, a lot.

Good grief. Does that mean all the Disney Princesses will be Trans “women” now? I gues Lia Thomas can play Ariel once he retires from swimming <shudder>Not only can the costumed characters and greeters no longer say things like"hellow boys and girls" or "ladies and gentlemen" but one of their main executives held a news conference today stating that going forward, their goal would be to have 50% of their costumed characters either gay or transgendered. Basically. The corporate executive admitted to their agenda in a leaked call. I’m very disappointed. Wanted to plan a trip for my kids in January. I won’t subject them to some trans propaganda while I’m there. I do think they are doing this for theater. They never opposed the bill until it passed and do Disney Cruises to countries that criminalize homosexuality. We shall see…

Disney is political without being. Gave money to political parties during election, yet, now have to take a social stance (so they say).Basically. Not at all. I just think big Orange football should be one of the few remaining places where life without politics can be enjoyed. I will gladly sit beside any lib wearing Orange inside Neyland and cheer on the VOLS for a few hours on a fine Fall Saturday. Four hours of innocence every once in a while is not being beta. It is an oxygen mask in a ever suffocating world.Beta

This exactly. It’s the woke liberal crowd of “you disagree with me you must be sexist, racist, homophobic, want grandma to die” emotional BS that’s the issueWith LGBTQ stuff, I fall in the "I don't get it, but you do you" crowd. I'm more than willing to treat people with respect who are outside the lines of the traditional box of sexuality and gender. But I wish there was a bit more reciprocating from the LGBTQ crowd. Like, if society in general is trying to be cool and respectful to your way of life (and I think we're there mostly), maybe try being cool yourselves in return. Don't try to radically change society by insisting that kids must be read stories by transvestites, or that we can no longer use "gendered" language, or that the Little Mermaid live actor at Disney must have a red beard and a set of mermaid nuts, or that we must allow adult biological males to compete against women in sports. Just be fu**in' cool and quit trying to hijack society.
Kids do not outgrow Disney from what I have seen.
As much as I dislike their pricing and the social stances they have chosen, it is still one of the best family vacations we have ever taken. The service has always been great. The parks are so much better than any other theme park because of all the bells and whistles they add. There isn’t a time that Disney comes up at the dinner table where everyone does not laugh and smile about the memories.
I feel like I just did a Disney commercial, need to go wash up now.
