Now are we getting to be like the football team. Top 10's or nothing? In my opinion Bruce gas done a very good job. We had 30 wins one season. When was the last time a UT mens' basketball team won 30 and beat the runner-up in the NCAA? We can't get the current coach at Florida to leave either. Has the AD said anything about replacing Bruce?
Billy Donovan has lost 3 straight including one to USF! Are they hollering to replace him? NO!
I agree with the previous post. Bruce has the Vols being competitive and playing top ranked teams every season. Just wait, he'll have our guys playing Duke, UNC, a Big East team, or OU. We've beaten Texas (in the past) and even some good Kentucky teams and even beat the Gators in the year when the won the National Championship in basketball.

My argument: 4 seasons: = a #1 ranking, 2 sweet sixteens, 4 tourney appearances, a conference title, 3 sec east titles, and averaging 24.5 wins a year.

Your argument: Wha!! Wha!!! Wha!!! We need Coach K or some ELITE COACH. Get over yourself. This forum is for sports fans not people who watch the occassional game.

Just because you say no one can hang with you in an argument doesn't prove a thing chief. Be careful before you fall off your high horse, you might get hurt. Green accomplished just as much as Bruce has at that point in their careers at UT, and people wanted him gone. For whatever reason. The reason people want BP out, is because the team has gotten progressively lazier and show no desire for the most part. Let's hope he gets more players like Hall and Tatum, who show that fire and will to win. They're more about the team and less about themselves and their stats.

re-read my previous post... i've addressed these "wins and accomplishments" argument. let's see how the wins and accomplishments stack up this year with "my most talented team ever." so far... not so good without lofton, jujuan and dane.

Are you saying that all the whining you are doing is an argument? Its just emotional banter.....you have failed to provide any facts. W's and L's and championships are all that matter. Oh yeah and how many people are attending the games which since Pearl has been here is 4th in the nation.

Somehow I didnt remember Jerry Green winning an SEC title or achieving a number 1 ranking......shall I go on? Really think before you write. Your comparing apples to oranges.

You say people want BP out. You do realize you are in the smallest of minority. Like .0001% small. Go back to posting on Lady Vols softball. Nobody knows anything about it so your ignorance wont be so obvious.

I am not 100% happy with the way we have played the past year, but without a good point gaurd and a lot of quickness on defense I dont see how we could do much better. Hurry over to the softball forum, there is someone over there wanting to send a moving van to the coaches house. You will fit in nicely.....

Oh and by the way, and speaking of ignorance on your behalf, my opinion is that if Bruce does not stop this nonchalant play and lack of hustle THEN he needs to go. Regular season wins are rather meaningless after we get early exits from the Tourney.

lofton, jujuan, dane were the heart of pearls success. those guys didn't need much coaching or pushing. lofton's work ethic is widely known as epic and made jujuan a better player. dane said himself he'd spend hours watching film. you tell me how it's possible dane and lofton are better in a full court press than 7/9 of our top players.

pearl has no clue how to teach a half court offense. his deficiency is this area was largely looked over cuz lofton (and then jujuan his sr. year) would shoot incredibly from 3. pearls ineptitude in this area is quite obvious and been covered over and over here. you cannot be an elite program without at least average profiency in the half court.

so... he can't get his players that he recruited to play the intense, tenacious, pressing defense that is signature of the "pearl style". he has admitted it. they don't play any d in the half court either... just ask belmont, ok state, temple, jodie meeks, wyoming, and USC. no defense + no offense = no coaching, no final fours, no National Championships.

what do you think of his comments quoted above?

pearl's style is pressure D. all these players from last year and this are guys he recruited to play his system. can you explain why the lofton and dane teams were better pressing than 08-09 and 09-10 (thus far) teams?

even though pearl's style is based on pressure D and transition baskets... do you think we need a half-court offense to fall back on when the D isn't getting us O? do you like our half-court offense?

do you think our effort has been good so far this year... and all of last year? if you think it's lacking... can you offer a reason why?

why is it that belmont, temple, jodie meeks, depaul, auburn, ole miss, wyoming (in the first half) and gerrity (to name the most memorable to me at the moment) either dominated us or played us even... when our talent level is superior to all those teams except UK who owned us twice.

do you think the team performed ok last year? how about this year so far? do you see any improvement from last year to this year? how about any improvement from game 1 this year to game 11?

why do you think we struggled versus arkansas in the 07-08 SEC tourney and then struggled versus american, butler and then demolished by Louisville in the 07-08 tourney?

Why didn't/don't we have a good point guard and a lot of quickness on defense? Who is responsible for that?

We know the answer to the second question is Pearl. So why doesn't he address weaknesses that even the casual fan recognizes?

I guarantee you back in high school if our defense was as terrible as ours has looked at times, coach would have only practiced offensive drills and and sets for about thirty minutes. The other 2 hours and 30 minutes would have been conditioning and defensive drills to work our butts off to improve that area.

How dare you ask legitimate questions? Don't you know that:
* We were #1 once for 24 hours.
* We made 2 sweet sixteen’s losing to teams that we should have beaten.
* We were in the top 65 at the end of the regular season 4 times and thus selected to play in the tourney
* We came in 1st in the SEC 1 year
* We came in 2nd 3 years
* We beat teams like NC A&T at leat 20 times per year.
