The fix is in

We will beat any Big Ten team we play. We are just a horrible matchup for any of them. Won’t matter that it is on the road. The thing that ticks me off though is the fact that the format of this thing is so idiotic we are the ones that get screwed out of a home game. We are the 7th best team in the country according to the committee but there will be 6 teams ranked behind us playing for a potential first round bye. Make that make sense.

Tennessee forgets who they are when they go to a big opponents home. And if by some miracle we actually win surprise we get the #1 team in America!!!

It's like the 8/9 seed in March madness. Your reward is the #1 seed.

I see the little 10 bias all over the committee. Pretty pathetic.

So not only did Ohio State not fall below Tennessee but by some miracle of Christ, Georgia ROSE in the rankings after an 8 overtime win to an unranked team at home. I think this was on purpose to screw Tennessee out of any chance to host a game.

Maybe I'm wrong but here's the only possible way it happens now ..

Unless Georgia or Penn St lose by 30 or more points.

This bodes terribly for UT. Tennessee hasn't beat a top 10 team on the road since 2006, 19 seasons let alone a game as crazy huge as a playoff game at someone else's home field.

A real shame.
Don't fret. This team needs to learn how to play on the road.

If we get past dumpster-fire Ohio State, we're Rose Bowl bound v Oregon. A dream scenario!

Agree. We beat them at home. Road game against a team narrative that they are “fighting” for their coach’s job . . . Will be hard to overcome.
Narrative stacked against you before it even gets started. They want the Big suck to be relevant so bad..They'll do anything to make sure of it.. Refs will be in their pocket too.

If all think about it....ND is a cancer to the sport.
Think about it. Bring's nothing but drama to the table...Media darling maybe true...name one meaningful sport they are seriously contenders in year to year...

Want respect? Join a conference!

If that #1 is Oregon then bring them on. They haven’t looked like a number 1 team to me. Struggling with Idaho, Boise State, and Wisconsin lol. We would take them on a neutral field. Some people forget that these other teams have to play us too. We’ve played an even schedule compared to Ohio State but played a much more difficult schedule than Oregon. None of those Big Ten teams in the field have had to matchup against us. If it is Ohio State on the road then so be it. Will Howard is not a good QB. We’ve played much better this season. He WILL throw the ball to our defenders.

Oregon and PSU slightly overperformed. IU really overperformed.

Bama and UGA slightly underperformed. UK, NCSU, and OU really underperformed.

Why we will be going on the road...
UGA slightly underperformed? They got their asses kicked by Ga Tech and got bailed out by ******** officiating. Call a spade a spade.

Don't worry about it right now. The conference games will shake this a little more.
I’m not sure now. I think the OP has a point. I legitimately thought they could do this without overt bias but I was wrong.

Miami loses to a top 25 team on the road and falls six places.

Ohio State loses at home to an UR team in embarrassing fashion and drops only four spots. There is legitimately no rationale for this. Other than the fact the the Chair is Big Ten. They do not want a Big Ten team having to play at Neyland.

The positive: We have a chance to embarrass the hell out of Big 10. Hopefully we don’t have any touchdowns called back like the Music City Bowl.

If we can just make it to the semifinals: “2024 Big 10 Champions” banner in Neyland.

They'll have to play a perfect game. Everything will be in Ohio Sucks favor. They're going to get the calls and if we play passive it won't end well anyway..

100%. Rankings have changed every week, as they are "moment in time". Don't think ANY team gets bounced from playoffs who is playing a conference championship game. To me the only movement will be if Clemson wins vs SMU, which, I'd guess will bounce out Bama.

Do we get SEC refs since the game is a home game for OSU? Not that they’ll do us any favors.

Agreed. This is a screw job from the committee. Every top 10 team that has lost a game has dropped 5 or 6 places with one exception - we only dropped 4 after losing to GA at their place, but that was after GA had dropped 9 spots after losing to a ranked Ole' Miss team on the road. 9. The committee was determined to screw the SEC and give 2 of the 4 first round home games to Big10 teams. The loser of their CCG will get one and they made sure that Ohio State was going to get the other one.

I’m disappointed for selfish reasons. I have season tix and a playoff home game would be off the hook. Plus, my son got his student ticket today, but it looks like he won’t need it. And , TN is allowing 1000 tickets to donors for away (1st round) game. So I doubt I will make the cut and tickets will be over $800 per.

This is my take as well. I would have LOVED this. I would have paid the invoice as fast as I possibly could, and began my tailgate planning immediately. If we go on the road I will make an application, but I don't see a world where I actually get to buy any of the few tickets that will be available. I will not buy tickets on the open market - I will watch that game on my big screen TV. I am super excited about UT being in the playoffs, but disappointed that we likely won't be hosting. I don't see any way that Oregon, Penn State, Texas or Georgia will drop below us with a loss in their respective CCG. I just don't.

Ohio State spent the most money in NIL this past year. I guess they spent the most money on the College Football Payoff…(cough, cough) excuse me, Playoff.

No the way the committee slyly put OSU BETWEEN Tennessee and Georgia there's no way now if Georgia loses that they will fall below both OSU and Tennessee. That one move is what they wanted to guarantee their precious OSU gets a home game.

I want Tennessee to evicerate OSU on their home field but I know how Tennessee plays on the road against tough competition. Tennessee somehow forgets who they are. Total Jekyll and Hyde choke jobbers.

If this game would be at Neyland it's a 100% win for Tennessee. All those B10 homers on the committee were absolutely *****ing themselves thinking of a playoff game at Neyland Stadium.
All the B10 homers? Outside of Manuel, who on the committee would you consider a B10 homer?

Glad we made it to the playoffs. That said, if its about money, I don't think any team has fans that follow like Vols fans. Secondly, whether you're an Ohio state fan or a Vols fan ..... Would you rather be sitting in the stands in Ohio in the middle of the winter or sitting in the stands in Tennessee where it might be a blizzard or even a 70F day? Plus if you're from Ohio, you can catch all the Christmas happenings in Pigeon Forge/ Gatlinburg while you're down here.
Easy choice for me even if I was a Buckeye fan.

Tickets are about $220 plus fees. They may be upper decks but that is what I’d get anyways from UT.
